He's credited with mentoring Boye Mafe and Thomas Rush on the U's website, not sure if they're just reaching for things to put in his profile but he doesn't look like a total unknown/bad fit.
 


Wow!! How lucky could we be? Another no name to replace another no name. Come PJ release some of that 2 million assistant pay. Gopher fans would appreciate it, and most of all your players deserve it.

It’s a defensive line coach, you can’t name three of them off the top of your head let alone make a suggestion on one we should have hired. They’re all no names. Robbins played Dline at NW, he’s young but has coaching experience at several stops. Promoted from coaching the rush ends, seems like a qualified hire to me.
 

PJ loves to promote from within when it makes sense and this seems to make sense. A young up and coming coach whose position group had a really solid season. His DE's combined for 23 sacks of the team 35.


Sure he may have want Winston back, but Win$ton is headed elsewhere. Many factors go into these hires.

I'm mean we probably should have looked at JJ Watt first, he has name recognition and nearly played for the Gophers at one time.
