They had opportunities to win sets 2-3. However, if your setter struggles getting the ball to your most explosive top scorer, your chances of winning really do go downhill quickly. I know and understand Hanson was tripled blocked but setting needed to change along with Julia's approach for the Gophers to have their best chance of winning that match. Also, Tay's offense was once again pretty much non existent...that needs to change too.

I'm hoping Nellie was the correct hire and she can work more with Stella before Spring matches. The QB of the volleyball team needs to be on top of her game, at all times. We are not a very good passing team and being an OOS offense will continue next season unless that is ever resolved by this coaching staff. We will have 1 of 4 DS/L on the roster that can pass....that is Z before her injury.

Pitt is beatable and Purdue might just do that.
 

Different NCAA bracket, but Concordia plays for their 10th national championship (today, I think). No one on the roster over 5'11" -- and a division that hasn't been ruined by money. Too bad it's on ESPN+.
 

KC looked like a strong hire, but two people I was hoping for were Slabe or Morrison. In retrospect, damn.

Texas A&M just made my weekend. Congratulations to the aggies and their 9 seniors. Happy to see the huskers fall short again, especially Landfair not getting the natty she was so desperately seeking. Now if Texas can eliminate the badgers and Booth, this day will be perfect.
 


Wisconsin winning is a major buzzkill. That program is not on the up and up.

Disappointed that Texas couldn’t get the win. Looks like we have a former champion (Wisc or Kentucky) facing a newcomer (Pitt or Texas A&M) in the final. I’ll be rooting for the aggies to win it all. Who would you pick?
 



That A&M Nebraska match might be the best volleyball match I've ever seen. The atmosphere in the arena was electric and you had two really talented teams balling out. Four of the five sets decided by 2 points. The ultimate outcome made it even better. Love to see A&M win it all.
 

I don't want to be Johnny Raincloud but I see one glaring problem with our Gopher team going forward. If you look at the final four teams every one of them has at least one beast. The kind of player that when you need a point you can feed them and get it. Mimi Colyer, Brooklyn Delaye, Eva Hudson, Logan Lednicky, and Olivia Babcock all fit that bill. We don't have a beast. Julia Hanson was great but I'm not sure even she fit that bill. Who on this roster can be our beast. Gilk or Acevedo are very good all around players but probably will never be the beast. Wucherer? Maybe if she's 100% healthy and finally lives up to her perceived potential. That's a lot to ask. That leaves Kinney. She shows some of the traits you're looking for. She's got the size and athleticism. She shows some creativity in her attacking and she seems competitive. Still she's got a ways to go. Coach Cook, this is your challenge. Either find a beast in the portal or develop one.
 


Daly Santana probably and Stephanie Samedy at times. Certainly have not had one for a while. Landfair for one year is the closest thing we've had.
