Here is TxTech billionaire walking through blueprint for how they bought their way into the national spotlight. This is the new college football.

It makes college football s___.

You don't have to earn anything. History means nothing. Building up something means nothing.

You just upjump yourself suddenly with a bunch of money that most of your opponents can't match.

That's not fair competition. That's a trash product

Brings parity across the landscape where TT might have never amounted to anything. I still think everything rises and falls and rises again to fall. Minnesota can rise again, and any team can claim a major rise in the future.

MLB is far away from parity. The LAD spent 600% versus the Twinks yet people still watch with dreams of 1987. Sadly.

With the abandonment of amateurism in the 2020s the supercharging of bribes was inevitable but also brings into question why the TT boosters didn’t conform to the bags of cash legend earlier and only got into the game after NIL. Maybe the advent of the larger playoff and unlimited transfers widens the aperture for a successful “investment”. I don’t know.

If parity is the goal gonna have to divert a lot more revenue to football and lessen the impact of outside boosters but that’s probably impossible. There is no way to police NIL outside of the “honor system” as we’re seeing. Sero nimirum sapere caepit.

This is reality. Quit yelling at clouds. It's a business.

It’s gross that this just makes me want the traditional blue bloods to smash these type of teams.

I fought for amateurism (metaphorically) for years but now that it’s over and dead I’m all in on letting the free market do its thing. The revenue sharing limits, transfer rules need to be ripped out as horrendous antitrust violations to help force the eventual formation of a regulated league with real enforcement teeth. Only need to find attorneys and/or players willing to find a lucrative angle. I’d guess it won’t be long.

“Generational opportunity” to buy as much talent as they wanted.
Thank you for posting, Bleed.

Really, really telling how they looked at the opportunity vs how Mn looked at the opportunity.

At Mn, it was we can't. There, it was we can and will.
Who’s “they”? Billionaires at TTU who were already giving (but presumably legally) vs. ???

It doesn't really bring parity. It just changes who the elite are. Parity would be like the NFL where every team basically has the exact same amount of money.

If you were a billionaire who wanted to give money to the U athletic programs and sat down with Coyle and he couldn’t put two cogent sentences together would you give it to him for distribution?

The NFL is a business.

And the NFL, correctly, forces strict pairity.

Makes it a vastly superior product.

I'll continue watching the Gophers, for the foreseeable future. I won't bother wasting my time on any other team in college football.

He seems pretty proud of himself.
For sure he is. Should be, he brought in a ton of talent. While a portion of the country debates what’s right or wrong or amateur or professional - this dude saw an opportunity to bring folks together and made it happen. Spend your money how you want. Not surprised he is a successful business person.

Some people are successful and boast about it. Most successful people are modest about it, and I prefer them over the loudmouths.

No it wasn’t. They said there is a window of no rules and we want to blow a bunch of money. MN said we will play within the rules.

The problem was there is no enforcement of rules. I don’t fault donors or the U for not blowing money.

😂😂😂😂😂

We can't because there are no rules!!

Continue the delusion that Coyle and Mn administration did anything except make excuses why "we can't".
