2025-26 College Football Coach Fired/Hired Thread

Deal in the works for Penn State, looks like announcement is coming soon.

Campbell is from the area and pretty consistently knows how to win in a low ceiling enviornment, now he will have resources and is at the dominant program in a state. Good hire imo.
With previous ties to Ohio and Pennsylvania area, it seems like a no brainer of a hire. He is following a coach who coached his team to within 3 points of playing in the national championship less than a year ago.

Matt Campbell would be a solid hire for Penn St.

Maybe not their first choice but still a good get.

Probably their 10th choice but a decent hire. I do think he's been overrated at ISU though.

Wonder how it feels to know you're someone's 17th option?
The pay day will be a pretty nice heart balm.

There are a lot of parallels between what Iowa State has been under Campbell and what Minnesota has been under Fleck.
Not quite a parallel but close: NDSU AD Gene Taylor was hired at KSU and shortly thereafter, filled the FB coaching vacancy with Chris Kleiman, NDSU FB coach. Iowa State just hired NDSU's president. Will Tim Polasek get consideration at ISU? He was a purported finalist for the Oregon State job before getting a long term deal with pay increase, increased assistant pool and other unspecified program resource and improvements (which the sycophants in North Fargo were interpreting as an imminent FBS move).

If the other nine were not realistic options, does it matter?

It shows they didn't really have a plan. I'm sure they were assuming they'd do better.

Would think some of the MVFC or MAC coaches would be in line for the job. Or would they run at someone recently fired.

Matt Enz went 8-4 in first year at Fresno. Was previously LB coach at USC and former NDSU HC
Jimmy Rogers currently at Washington State and formerly at South Dakota State
Both are moving to the PAC12 for 2026
Maybe they'll get another Toledo coach, Jason Candle is probably at the point where he's done all he can do there.

Jimmy Rogers it is. Good call Maxy

I didn’t see it happening so fast. He’s got some MN kids at Washington state that likely come with. I’m sure they wanted to keep recruits.

Sounds like Nebraska is interviewing the Toledo DC this weekend.
