Looks like he's out of a job, I wonder if PJ would hire him back.
Worse case could bring him on as a QC analyst type like last time. Don't know the exact terms of his buyout but a lesser job shouldn't affect thatLooks like he's out of a job, I wonder if PJ would hire him back.
I doubt Fleck feels burned by Ciarrocca since his mentor Greg Schiano is who hired him+ has a strong relationship with PJ.After getting burned by Kirk Ciarrocca leaving for a second time after Fleck hired him back, I doubt Fleck will risk the same thing happening by hiring Rossi back.
I've tried to sell that to people I've demoted as well.I would take Rossi back as Co-defensive coordinator in a heart beat, he can handle the run defense and let Rossi handle the pass defense and work together. In this instance I would be pretty clear this is a collaboration effort and not demoting Collins. Would not hurt to have two minds reviewing the film and game planning. Would help with mentoring the linebackers too which is an area we need help or additional resources.
Why TF would there be "co coordinators?"I would take Rossi back as Co-defensive coordinator in a heart beat, he can handle the run defense and let Rossi handle the pass defense and work together. But not against us. The Gophers gave hope to many a beleaguered DC this year. They seemed a little cozy after the MSU game. Then again the MSU defense was a sieve.
There’s our problem…Why TF would there be "co coordinators?"
And why would Rossi take that situation?
And where are we getting the money for 2 D Coordinators?
For sure.I’d rather have Justin Wilcox if we are just throwing names out there.
Didn't go very well?I've tried to sell that to people I've demoted as well.
Correct, and our defense right before he left was the absolute worst of Rossi’s tenure. I wouldn’t be upset if he brought Rossi back in some capacity, but if he was to move on from Collins, I think I’d rather see what other EXPERIENCED DC’s might be interested before I gave it to Rossi. He’s more accomplished than our current DC that’s for sure, but the MSU defense was worse than ours this year.
Better chance he’s Nebraska DC IMO.Why TF would there be "co coordinators?"

The younger hungry ones got offended (some of them saw it as a kick in the butt and some of them saw it as writing on the wall) but people 40+ didn't give a crap if it didn't impact their salary.Didn't go very well?
I think it'll be Jim Leonhard or Tony WhiteBetter chance he’s Nebraska DC IMO.
Was thinking the same thing. After getting burned by Kirk Ciarrocca leaving for a second time after Fleck hired him back, I doubt Fleck will risk the same thing happening by hiring Rossi back.
Rossi left for more $$ not vague "family on the east coast" like KC.After getting burned by Kirk Ciarrocca leaving for a second time after Fleck hired him back, I doubt Fleck will risk the same thing happening by hiring Rossi back.
This is the answer. Need a guy like Hetherman that improves every where he goes. Look at his track record and guys like Vince Kehres from Toledo. No on Rossi. I can't see that working.
Maybe Collins is the guy long term with growing pains to figure it out, but it sucks to risk those growing pains at the Power 4 level. All previous D coordinators here under Fleck had a bunch of experience.
I'd love to have another Hetherman here, but those hot rising stars are just that, rising and not here for long. Even the college blue bloods like Miami are just stepping stones to the NFL.
I think the thing with Corey is they will be a rental for sure. This is the answer. Need a guy like Hetherman that improves every where he goes. Look at his track record and guys like Vince Kehres from Toledo.
