According to PFF going into this game, Denaburg was the sixth worst FG kicker in Power 4 with Wisconsin's Vakos one spot behind at fifth worst...so we got that going for us.
Wisconsin has a better snapper though

IMO

3RD Q, I found it rather bizarre that the Badgers down 17-7 less than a minute to go with 4th & 8, at the Gopher 33 opted to bring the punter out.

Long FG sure, but in a 2 score game, just how many possessions did they think they were going to get? If the kicker stinks, why not go for it?

To their credit they executed the punt, downing it at the 1, but that's only a 32 yd change. When they got it back after the Gophers failed to get a 1st down, it was at their own 44.

Wisconsin never got any to closer to scoring.

Aside from that, when they got the ball back, down 10 with only 8 minutes to go deep in their own territory they didn't go "hurry up". They were still huddling under 5 minutes left in the game.

Bizarre game/clock management. There's no 5th Quarter in Dinkytown.

Man I thought you guys only got on here after losses (the "second guessers"). I'm not sure if you watched the game in person or on tv but there was a damn blizzard going on. Probably contributed to some of the "Bizzare" stuff that happened.

In person it was a bit short of a "blizzard". Both teams we able to move the ball somewhat and were over 200 yds of offense.

If they were that unconfident in place kicking, then going for it heading into the 4th Q makes even more sense, down 2 scores needing essentially 2 TDs.

Also, regardless of the conditions, when down 2 scores under 8 minutes left not going hurry up is just flat out "bizarre". Huddling with under 5 minutes, gave me the feeling the Badgers just had no interest in attempting to tie/win the game. As a Gopher fan, I was more than fine with that strategy. Thank you.

We'll take care of the Axe for another year.

Badger fans around us were losing their shit on that final drive with the lack of urgency. It was funny to see the game crew hurry up and get the kicking net up only to see a punt. Whole stadium was pretty dumbfounded there

I remember reading an article in Science Magazine where they did a study and it turns out the game clock runs at the same speed regardless the weather.

Should have threw a jersey on the "Kicking for Chicken" person, Dannaburg missed, and at the same end zone, they hit their FG lol

I'm sure you're right Wisconsin was probably tanking for a higher draft choice
