Is there any way we don't end up in Detroit for the bowl.game ???
I'm not sure there's going to be enough eligible teams for the big ten to fill the Detroit game? Even if NW beats us to get to six, Penn State could lose to Nebraska and beat Rutgers and neither team would go bowling. With that said that would be very disappointing and I would be eating a lot of crow if we lose to NW and WisconsinIs there any way we don't end up in Detroit for the bowl.game ???
Does anyone really care? We have only been to one good bowl in PJs time here at the U.Is there any way we don't end up in Detroit for the bowl.game ???
And none in the 50 years prior.Does anyone really care? We have only been to one good bowl in PJs time here at the U.
Are you drunk? With 6 wins still hell home. Neither players nor coaches deserve a bowl.
There are a ton of people who care and are actively rooting for 6-6 so they can shitpostDoes anyone really care? We have only been to one good bowl in PJs time here at the U.
Phoenix isn't ideal but it is warm ...With some of the crappy fields we’ve played on I’d rather see the squad play at Ford Field than go to New York or Phoenix.

Phoenix would be fine. The bad field thing was a fluke. With some of the crappy fields we’ve played on I’d rather see the squad play at Ford Field than go to New York or Phoenix.
Swing and a miss. And none in the 50 years prior.
There are very few bowl games left in the CFP era that move the needle for the casual fan. Bowls are basically just a way to fill programing over the holidays.Honestly besides a small group of hardcore fans anything besides a Florida Bowl or better is just another 3rd rate bowl game.
I’d like to see them in Nashville because I would maybe go to the game or Phoenix for the weather. But in all honesty playing in any of those or NY or wherever is just kinda meh…better than not making a bowl for sure but do any of those games really move the needle for any casual fan?
FIFY if you believe that none of the bowls between the 62 Rose Bowl and 20 Outback Bowl were better than the Outback Bowl.Andnonein the 50 years priorsince the 62 Rose Bowl.
Totally agree. No problem with having them tho. Still a good reason to take a vacation if its somewhere fun. They are basically glorified exhibition games anymore. Lot of the kids headed to the next level are opting out (don't blame them). I think fans should just enjoy them for what they are and not put too much value on them. All 12 regular season games are way more important. There are very few bowl games left in the CFP era that move the needle for the casual fan. Getting those extra practices is great because it gives coaches a chance to really focus on younger players and figure out where the holes in the roster are going to be. The game itself really doesn't end up meaning all that much.
There is just no way for me to come back from thisLadies and gentlemen, the King of Bad Takes.
You really got me, I guess we played in one other “good” bowl game, throw in the Sun Bowls too I guess. Auburn was the best bowl opponent we’ve faced since the Rose bowl. Plus we actually looked like we belonged there unlike the 15 Citrus bowl. I’d rather win games then hang my hat on being selected arbitrarily for this bowl or that bowl.FIFY if you believe that none of the bowls between the 62 Rose Bowl and 20 Outback Bowl were better than the Outback Bowl.
I think the team that played in the 15 Citrus Bowl may disagree with you.
The Citrus Bowl has always been a better bowl destination than the Outback (now Reliaquest) Bowl.
Congrats, you just took away PJ's best bowl - which is not fair to PJ or that team.
Goal wasn't to get you. You're not wrong that most of the bowls we've been in have been Johnny Come lately bowls that didn't exist in the hey day of bowl games. You really got me, I guess we played in one other “good” bowl game, throw in the Sun Bowls too I guess. I wish we could play in the Sun Bowl again. Id love to go to that game. The Holiday Bowl was so fun. wish we could go back.
Bunch of morons. The bowl in Detroit a few years ago was super fun.every year the blow hards come out and say we should turn down our mediocre bowl game because the gophers don't deserve it. Lighten up, its sports entertainment.

Yes, the Gopher defense was superb in that Holiday Bowl win. Got some payback on Coach Air Raid after Mason's epic last game collapse. Plus Claeys was able to rebuild the team's spirit after those ugly suspensions. That tipped pass in the end zone to Brooks that should have been a typical Leidner pick stands out for mind.Goal wasn't to get you. I'd add the Holiday Bowl to the list of meaninful bowls - having grown up on the West Coast it was similar to the Rose as the Citrus, Reliaquest, Gator Bowls were to the Orange Bowl, and was always well regarded.
That gives us 5 bowls of importance if not relevance in 62 years, still not a whole lot to brag about.
Winning is better, I agree. While the Outback bowl win was impressive and against the highest ranked opponent we've beaten in a bowl game, I still believe the Holiday Bowl is our best bowl win given the circumstances in that game, and how the coaches adjusted the game plan to stifle the WSU offense.
Under the current bowl system, I'm not sure bowl games will ever be really meaninful again unless they're in the playoff rotation.
I wonder how long before the list begins to dwindle. The VT side we played last year would have lost to one of Wacker's teams.
Spot on. Thanks for the nice breakdown. I’d say with the current B1G “placement” process, it seems likely MN ends up in Nashville or Vegas almost regardless of record since they haven’t been to either bowl in the current cycle.Maryland and Penn State need to go 2-0 to be in a Bowl.
Maryland plays Michigan/MSU and PSU plays Nebraska/Rutgers.
Rutgers needs one win and plays tOSU and PSU
Northwestern needs one win and play MN and ILL
10 teams are Bowl Eligible and possibly 1-2 more make it.
3 likely in the playoff with IN, tOSU and winner of Oregon and USC. (Close game won by USC and maybe 4 teams)
That's about 9 Spots to put teams .
Los Angeles for PAC12 tie in of possibly Washington
Alamo possibly USC/Oregon if not in playoff
Detroit
Rate in Phoenix
Pinstripe
Music City
RaliaQuest Tampa
Citrus
Las Vegas
Minnesota is only B1G team to be to Detroit in last 7 years. Would be surprised to send us there again. Especially if PSU, Rutgers and Northwestern aren't eligible.
