Freitag was more athletic than any guard MN had on its roster last year, including Asuma. Nolan would have been a better offensive bench player than Fox ever was. Robinson may have been over-rated.
By years end, Asuma was the 2nd best guard last year after Patterson. Asuma and Freitag can both play off the ball. They both could have played major minutes. Rigsby got 17 min per game! Frietag got 2 min as a freshmen at Wisconsin because the talent they had at guard were in another league than the gophers had. Draft pick Tonje 20ppg, Blackwell 16ppg, Klesmit, and McGee. I am not sure Patterson would crack that foursome.
Freitag is averaging 15ppg, 3.7 reb, 2.3 ass, 40% on 3's in his first year starting at buffalo. It will shock no one if he plays two years there, then comes back to the big leagues as a major recruit.
