Pretty steep talent gap which I feared. Its still very early in the season and guys will grow into their roles, think the next two games are key heading into a tricky one against San Francisco, need to find some secondary scoring from somewhere. I'm still hopeful on Willis as a slasher/creator, would like to see JCJ be more of an inside the free throw line kind of scorer and I think we'll see good growth from Asuma as the season goes. Missouri looks like a team in year 4, that's recruited well and has a quality young coach. We've got a bunch of dudes from different levels thrown together with our best guy being an afterthought from UNC. Going to take time as we all know
 

Tyson is by far the best offensive player on the team, but he’s more of a second scoring option on a good team.

My first impressions of Willis were really strong, but he seems so loose and out of control the past few games. I was really hoping he’d be a primary scoring option for us.

Asuma flashed some great moments tonight, I think that’s the positive I’ll take from the night. He seemed much more assertive.

The talent discrepancy and difference in depth between these 2 teams is large. Minnesota is not a talented team. This team is not as talented as the teams of the last few years. Niko needs some time to add some talent. Not very athletic.

I think that's a big over-reaction. This team is better than last year's most likely and miles better than Ben year 1 and year 2.

Tough second half but I am VERY optimistic about the future of the program. We ran into a talented team that got red hot in the second half. 60%FG and 50% on 3s is hard to contend with against a good team. We broke a little for about 3-5 minutes there and they made everything in that stretch. Even then the shots were contested. I like what we were doing and we will only get better.

It’s a better coached team but we’re going to see loads of zone defense to negate our motion offense. How Nico adjusts is an early test of his coaching ability at the P-4 level.

Because no one has gone zoned against his teams?

Going to be warts on a year one team.

I’m more concerned about still having a limited number of players he can trust in the rotation and doing it for 30 games.
 

I thought we played a pretty solid 26 minutes or so, and then things went completely off the rails.

There were some promising things I liked. I can't recall a 13-0 offensive rebound advantage at any point in a competitive game. That sequence of three straight cuts and baskets by Tyson early in second half was fantastic. And, for the first 2/3 of game, we played pretty connected at both ends.

However, the missed shots, missed free throws, turnovers and fouls started to pile up on us...all at the same time the Tigers were draining shots. An 8-point possession is rough.

I don't my outlook on this season changed much.

Unfortunately, I was only able to follow in Live Stats tonight. However, if indeed, part of the issue was letting cold shooting affect their defense, that may end up being the big lesson for the night.
 

The University of Minnesota can’t even get the postgame press conference online after their men’s basketball team plays. Absolutely pathetic.

Glad I didn't pay to watch the game. Caught the northern lights with my wife who had never seen them in her life as an always Minnesota. Check one off the bucket list.

Downloaded the Varsity Network App and listened to the game as we looked to the north.
 


Due to a conflict, I couldn't watch.

...Reading various comments here, I see reference to an eight-point possession. Can someone clue me in: how did that go down?
