Press Conference Video: Can the Gophers shock Oregon Friday night?

Not likely. We’re too slow and can’t play keep away with the ground and pound run game like we could in the past. FTD!

Fleck seemed pretty subdued and matter of fact. Obviously, he knows what they are getting into with a night game in Eugene. Hopefully, this will allow the team to play loose and play their best. That'll be the only chance at not getting blown out. I think the absolute best we can hope for is a two touchdown loss.

There is almost nothing in PJ’s history here that would suggest that he’ll even really try that hard to win this game. We will probably watch another effort where he just tries to run the clock quickly then get on the plane and come home as quickly as possible.
100%....doubt they even bothered watching game film this week or practicing.....just sat around the complex eating popcorn and watching movies. Cause like you say......Fleck has zero interest in even trying to win the game.....

I’ll spot you Penn State and the Ohio State game where Mo got hurt give me another game like this where PJ and his squad out performed.

I heard they were just playing card games and rock, paper, scissors.

After the Ohio State & Iowa games this year, it's hard to argue with this.

They were home games. When he plays these types of teams on the road, that has been my issue with their play in these games, he doesn't open things up to try and win.... so it seems. Sure, he's hoping they can win, he's just so conservative and in games like this on the road, you need to take chances and not just one time or series, you need to try things you haven't done in all aspects offensively, defensively and special teams throughout the game. Doing those types of things to surprise and shock, it's not in his DNA.

Penn St. last year?

You guys are bugging me. Where is the spirit? Oregon was good last year, this is not last year this is now. F you all, this is a win.
I agree with you, especially in terms of the doom and gloom around "if PJ didn't try to beat Ohio State, why would be here?" He DID try to beat Ohio State with that choreographed first drive. Even when the wind was taken out of our sails by their defense, we still went for it on an early 4th and 1. Those plays didn't go our way, but Oregon is also not near the team that Ohio State is this year. Let's say we have a similar start, but the choreographed drive turns out to be a TD, we have more offensive success early and make a clutch conversion or two. Suddenly a much better start that sets us up for success going forward!

I can confirm that this is what they have done. They did refresher courses on RTB lingo and had Oar painting contests.

We will need some major breaks and to play perfectly to even have a shot in this one but that isn't what I took issue with in terms of what you said. Your claim is that they won't even try to win and I could not disagree with that more.

Night game, on the road, against a top 10 CFP level team....good chance we lose this game. But Fleck, the coordinators and the players will still give it everything they have to try and win.

We all know what PJ is going to do . Play the clock. Slow everything down.. extra time in the huddle, run the ball —- just win the clock.

I get what you are saying, but THIS year…… they are still a top 10 team… and THIS year we have been absolutely obliterated on the road. I hope to keep it respectable
