Future Gopher Coach Discussion

We get it. You post the same stuff time after time. You want Bob fired. You post it everyday. Maybe freshen up your material. Also. how did Maine do tonight?
You never grasp that he has to do more with much less at Maine lol

All 3 people of this board has heard your non stop complaining about Bob. The amount of dead horses you are beating are piling up. I do understand you are upset that the Gophers won tonight...

You're gonna need to start thinking about the new staff. Motkzo already sold his house in Minnetonka this summer.

So because Bob may have sold his house to possibly downsize, that means he is quitting after this year? Is he and his family living in his office at Mariucci? How can he recruit within 10 miles of Minnetonka now like you always complain about? If he is mailing it in, how do you explain all of the high caliber recruits he has lined up in the next few years? I know, maybe Ben Barr is actually doing the Gopher recruiting while he is "still" at Maine. It is all an undercover mission.

To downsize by buying a big house in cabin country and renting an apartment. (y)

Bob and his family have had a cabin up north for years, not that it is any of our business where Bob and his family lives. I know lots of people who sell their home, move into an apartment and have a cabin and still work. BTW, didn't Bob's family live in St Cloud when he 1st started coaching the Gophers in year 1?

I'll toss into the discussion Tom Ward - head coach of the boy's teams at Shattuck. He has Gopher roots and a very successful career in coaching.

Bought another place up there

Another great performance at home on the farewell tour! Worst Gopher team in 20 years, congrats coach! Gonna be lots of "highlights" still to come this season.

Most of us saw this coming, would have been nice to get a few high end transfers this off season to fill some gaps. At least one forward and 2 d men. I understand not wanting to push guys out, but realistically we probably lost more players last year than anticipated so there was no reason not to bring in a few extras. And I'm not talking about the D3 transfer types.

People were excited/optimistic about getting
- An Omaha player coming off a 2 point injury season
- A Mankato recruit
- A DU reject
- A backup goalie (from conference to add insult to injury)

Was for trusting Bob that these kids would grow, but if you’re going to be slower and heavier, you need to be smart. If you make mistakes being fast (ie PSU), fine: but being slow and poor on the puck is just unacceptable. If Bob isn’t willing to multiple kids then he needs to be removed

He's done. He doesn't give a shit anymore. After the tragedy with his son he was unfortunately not fully in it anymore. Not many parents would be. I'm sure I wouldn't.

The world juniors are gonna need the assistants to run the show to have any chance, which is basically what they did at the summer camp anyways.

I said it on GPL, but whoever the next coach is needs to hire someone from the NDTP to his staff, we need a recruiting connection to that program

NTDP national team dev program

Many of the best 11th and 12th graders in the country go play there

Need a much younger coach with some fire, edge, and attitude that demands the same in the team. Done with this laid back whatever happens, happens approach.

Bob's recruiting definitely started to decline after the tragic death of his son. I find it impossible to believe that parents ever recover from the loss of a child. I would never view the world the same way after that and my career focus would certainly be negatively impacted.

Hopefully, Bob gracefully retires after the season and can at least enjoy the financial benefits of having a successful college coaching career. He's earned that along with our respect as a coach and family man.

It is inexcusable we are not in the top 5 every year. It is actually embarrassing. Lots of empty seats the rest of the way.

Your first sentence is not realistic. Your second sentence is accurate.

This is not just about a down season. It's about what could be the worst season in Gopher hockey history. That's unacceptable especially with how last year's team fell apart once the NHL guys were in the ears of the players around xmas time.

Not sure we can count on the university or the AD to save this program with a quick change of coach and a great hire or more support in NIL money.

You can't. The U is pure mediocrity top to bottom. Academics and acceptance rates are trash now. Everybody gets in. Dinkytown is a mess. Athletics have no NIL money to compete (probably because most don't want to donate to a University they are no longer proud of attending) and coaches are about as safe as can be.

If Motzko doesn't retire, they'll let him continue to run the program into the ground like Eaves did to wisconsin for another year.

A rumor, but may not far-fetched. Motzko asks for three more years. Two to do the job, and one to position the next coach. Retire in August/September and the hire is almost always internal. Killer gets one year to produce, or open a search.
