I only made it to a few fall practices. I think pitching will be better. Morton was sitting 93-94 on fastball and touched 96, and looked like good secondary stuff as well. Urban also looked like he had an uptick in velocity. Whelan had a good summer. Other additions looked like they will contribute on mound, and with guys back from injury (Selvig, Capamoccio), and returning experience (Sperry, Hemmesch), I am bullish on the pitching.For those that follow more closely than me, what do you think we got for a team this year? Hitting could be OK if a couple transfers pan out and a couple of returners improve and are more consistent and healthy (Sutherland, Martin, Spanier) join Neels and Richter.
I don't know on defense...just not sure how good some of the incoming position players are defensively.
A NCAA tournament bid would be a fairly big jump, but with an easier non-conference slate and assuming they don't suffer injuries like a season ago, I think better record and Big 10 tourney are certainly achievable.
