Coaches fired and or on hotseat

I'm saying you are weighing a 1-9 record in a legacy rivalry far too low. NIL money doesn't follow the record, it follows much more, such as status, bragging rights, recent rivalry records, things that matter to donors. As important as getting an education is, if you don't win on the field against regional rivals, then you are losing program.

The Gophers have horrible losing records against Iowa and Wisconsin. What donor, that has a business in Minnesota and deals with businesses in Iowa or Wisconsin, is going to feel their NIL donation is going to make a difference to changing that trend? They are going to abandon boostership of Gopher Football, and probably most other Gopher Sports, for other D1 schools in Minnesota.

The administration now realizes how important money is when it comes to running an educational institution. Anyone who drives money away from the school, be it academic or athletic, is a liability.

It's Win, Baby, especially against Iowa and Wisconsin, and donations will be freer flowing. Winning is the culture that matters.
What donors? There's near zero big money support for this program. Maybe if these mythical donors showed up we'd beat Iowa occasionally.

Do you disagree that it isn’t hot?
I’m not saying it shouldn’t be hot. I’m saying it isn’t hot

For fleck to be fired in the year 2025 it would probably take an off the field event IMO
Agreed! A football coach is like an investment…you don’t get rid of one until there is a better one. Finding an affordable coach willing to come to an underfunded program and deliver better results is unlikely.

Exactly, outside of the old guard McNamara donors and Carlson's from the old day's we do not have anyone.

Building a program, in the traditional sense, is looking like a fool's errand in this NIL era. You can't preach delayed gratification to players who are being instantly rewarded.
It's even worse than the pros because teams can't veto a player's move due to a multi-year deal.

Do you remember 2023 - backfield decimated and a horrible QB....

We are nowhere close to firing Fleck....those that want that are going to be disappointed.

The Gophers currently have a decimated backfield and a young QB that has struggled at times, especially on the road.

I remember it well and, more importantly, I look back on the numbers to check my memory because memory can be unreliable.

Our rushing performance this season is worse than 2023. We averaged 4.1 yards per carry in 2023 and are averaging 3.6 yards per carry so far this season.

I don't think it's fair to call Athan a "horrible" quarterback. Drake is better this season than Athan was in his last year here but not by that much. Athan is a better QB now than Drake is now.

Oregon will beat us 55-3
Life coach PJ will say it's all on him but everyone on the team had fun and gets a participation award.
@Some guy & @btowngopher will make 7000 posts here about how pj won't lose his job
Life will go on as normal but I agree his seat won't even be warm because pj runs a clean program.
They are right. There's no way PJ's job is in jeopardy. He could lose out, including 50-0 to the skunks and his job is safe. Sure, PJ isn't a diversity hire, but look at how long BJ was given to motherf@%$ the MBB. The admin agrees, this is a good as it gets.

Drake has had some struggles, especially on the road, but he is light years ahead of where Athan was in 2023.

Yesterday sucked, losing to Iowa always sucks, but as much as it sucked the season isn't over and this team can still finish with a solid record.

I'm honestly not positive Athan is a better QB now that Drake is. Put Drake on Rutgers with their offense, WR and OC and I don't think it is crazy to think that he would be better at running that offense then Athan is.
