This is a fireable offense

You think it’s a reach to win one more game in a season where we have 3 more games that we will be within a field goal point spread of?

And APR says we are likely making it anyways
Thanks for the reality check. It's appreciated.

Hate losing to the Hawks. Makes every other aspect of life appear worse.

Have you seen what our University provides the football team? It's a liberal state and a liberal University. The NIL money is absolutely nothing. Minnesota football will never be at the level we want it to be due to the surroundings. That said, we can at least be a team that consistently wins 8 to 10 games a year. We will never do that with this offensive coordinator and these defensive coordinator.
100%. Not a serious football program. School wants the money from the football team to support everything but is only serious about being Elite Academically and Socially.

We need one more win to get to 13 games this season. That seems within reach even today.

Really sucks though to be us just this minute. We've got a Hawk monkey on our back that just will not let go.
Defense recovered in the second quarter once the appropriate personnel change was made. The offense and the special teams are suffering a melt-down afternoon.

It sure seemed Heatherman and Rossi both left because of money.
We have the money to pay them just like those other teams do we either chose not to based upon what PJ recommended or they left because they considered the new locations a better job with a better less FAMILY coach.

Coyle needs to give Fleck an ultimatum.

Change play callers or be fired. This shit is just beyond arrogant that harbaugh is still his play caller.

Just reading this thread one can see why we'll never be a good team. Fleck has made no progress with the great team he inherited from Kill and he recruits in the basement of the Big10, ensuring that we stay a bottom-dwelling team. Yet, people think he's "great" and "he's never going to be fired."Iff

If Fleck were failing at Michigan, Iowa, Wisconsin, or Nebraska the way he's failing here, he would be on his way out the door. But here? We're happy as long as everybody has fun.

We had money to give them a raise here too. They chose to leave to work for a different head coach.
Trying to match offers is a recipe for failure. You need to pay guys competitively before they get a better offer.

As of December 2024, Minnesota was 15th in the Big 10 in assistant coach pay with no available numbers for USC, Penn State, and Northwestern.

Going 1-7 against a rival and down 0-31 in the first half of game 9 is absolutely Fireable for a serious college football program.

Make your own assessments from there.
For a serious football team, absolutely. Can you imagine an Iowa or Wisconsin or Michigan coach going 1-7 against us and keeping their coach? Absolutely not.

Our fan base that insists that Fleck's poor performance is just fine for us is the reason we can't be a serious team.

Measuring a coach's success on one rivalry is dumb. And why many OSU fans wanted their coach fired the same year they won the National Championship.

Our coordinators just got elevated from analysts yesterday so that’s a dumb comment.

He hasn't fired his coordinators except for one. They have been taken away because they've done well. The problem is, with his two new hires, they suck. I mean they suck really bad. If he doesn't change them, he will get fired in 2 or 3 years.
He fired Smith and Sanford. He needs to fire at least one more asap.

I believe the Ohio State and Iowa beat downs make it pretty unlikely somebody offers PJ a lot of money to come to their school after this season.
PJ ain't going anywhere.

These threads are so stupid. Remember when everyone wanted to fire Pitino? Most likely after fleck leaves our program it's back to the depths. Grass is always greener but usually never is.
I’m sorry, I just don’t agree with this take. If you’re not trying to win a championship, you don’t belong in the Big Ten. You don’t.

Effectively there are 2 conferences, that’s it. Things have changed. Indiana is competing for Natty’s and Vandy is a top ten team in the country. You have huge TV contracts and advantages over 90% of the teams out there.

You give guys a fair shot and if it doesn’t work you move on. Year 9.

Honest question: why is it dumb?

This is entertainment and they are competing for
my entertainment dollars. If I want to see the Gophers beat Iowa and write checks supporting the programs efforts to beat Iowa - if they don’t get that W, why am I dumb for wanting a change?

No different than choosing where I go to dinner based on the food or what booze I buy based on what’ll get me hammered quickest after watching PJ take a team on the road.

Pj should not be fired. He has been great for us. That being said, his offensive coordinator and his defensive coordinator should be on the hot seat. We have one of the least creative offenses and yet one of the most predictable soft coverage defenses in all of college football

We will beat bad teams but we will never be good teams with the play calling on both sides of the ball that we currently have.

Great is subjective. Like....I wouldn't call an hours old McDonalds hamburger "great"......but it's way better than the cold cheese sandwich we had in the late 00's.

Yeah this whole high quality of life thing is a real left turn - apologies for our priorities. I was just thinking i should make some obese kids read a bible before enjoying Ole Miss wining an SEC game. Can’t wait to move to Oxford!
