All Things 2025-2026 Minnesota Timberwolves In-Season Thread

All the lakers needed to pass the wolves was a pulse at center.

There are massive defensive problems with the wolves. it's score at will.

I said all of last year......do not sign naz Reid. He was worthless the last half of last year. He can't defend a potted plant and doesn't rebound. 25 fuking million a year.

Pacers on a back to back. Played last night and lost at Memphis. Mathurin with 36 and 26 in their 2 games.

Naz definitely needs help on defense when he is out there. He is a sieve (Randle is as well). When Berenger is ready, he needs to play.
Naz's defense Friday night was even worse than usual. It looked like the Lakers were hunting him. I hope Finch gets assertive in developing Berenger for the non Rudy minutes.

I love Naz. He's my favorite Wolves player, but he has regressed. If he isn't shooting 3's at a high clip, he's basically unplayable.

Naz sister was murdered a couple of months ago. Probably going through a lot. I know they are pro athletes getting paid quite a sum. Hopefully he has a good game tonight.

Last year the Wolves played 82 games. No opponent in any of those games shot a higher FG percentage than the Lakers the other night. .592

So ant is hurt now. Hopefully precautionary but you never like a hammy injury for a guy who relies on explosiveness

That was not an impressive win.
The Pacers team we played last night was without 5 of their top 6 players from last year:

Haliburton (Injured)
Turner (Left in FA)
Mathurin (Rest)
Nembhard (Injured)
McConnell (Injured)

After the last five (5) days of all too familiar MN sports, I would’ve proudly accepted a forfeit.

Just win. Get the rotation figured out. Every win you can get with Ant not playing is a good one

The Wolves lost at home, at full strength, in mid March last season to a depleted Pacers team after an 8 game winning streak. That team was missing:

Siakam
Haliburton
Turner
Nesmith

It was an ugly win, but it was a win without Ant against a team we were 0-2 against last season.

Sounds like 1 week and re-evaluate.

This may take a while. I know from personal experience that hamstrings take what seems like forever to heal. (I was never a 24 year old superstar athlete with amazing powers of recovery and access to the very best health care.) I hope they make him wait to return until he's fully healed.

Having had the good fortune of spending some time with you over the years @jamiche, I put your hamstrings up with ANT's hammy's any day!

Howl Wolves!!

I was at the game and I was also mystified why Clark sat.

A few impressions:

1. The new lighting system is pretty cool.
2. This team as it is currently constituted is going to struggle to beat good teams this year, even with Ant. The NBA has gone big again and this team isn't big enough. They have some height but they don't have any bulk both in the front court and the back court. Denver was noticeably bigger than the wolves and basically pushed them around. I always thought Christian Braun was a skinny kid. He was guarding DDV last night and dwarfed him in height and weight. Crawford and Hardaway were bigger and stronger than any wolves guard and got to any spot on the floor. Jokic and Vukovic owned the paint.
3. The wolves are pg deficient. That's not news. Conley was actually pretty assertive, probably his best game. Crawford and Hardaway owned him. They were too big and too good. I was glad to see Dilly get a shot and he played pretty well on offense. He's incredibly small. I can't believe he showed up this year with no additional bulk. Crawford and Hardaway owned him. Bones will make the occasional fun play but he's a non factor.
4. Randle and McDaniels looked good. The problem is they are often on the floor with two non scorers. It makes life hard.
5. Naz's defense is making him almost unplayable.
6. I know Rudy's defense is still good but his offense compounds their deficiencies.

The fixes for these problems are easier said than done. First and foremost, if I were POBO I would address the pg situation by trading a package that includes one of Naz, DDV, or Randle for a top 15 pg. (If that's even doable.) Secondly, I'd start giving Berenger 10-15 minutes a game because Rudy's fumbles have got to be causing morale problems. He's not going to provide Rudy's defense for a while, but he can catch the damn ball.

No doubt the team will be better when Ant returns. However, it has some structural problems that not even he can fix.
