The Gopher Women's Hockey team is set to have a great year. They are 7-1 and ranked #3. They just split with the #2 team in the country. Their win over Ohio State was a great game and they kept the pressure on from start to finish. They play #4 ranked UMD this coming weekend. Let's share our thoughts about games this season. Go Gophers!

DULUTH, MINN. – The No. 3-ranked University of Minnesota women's hockey team earned a statement victory on Friday night, shutting out No. 4/5 Minnesota Duluth, 4-0, at AMSOIL Arena. The Gophers erupted for three goals in the second period and added one more in the third to secure their third shutout win of the 2025-26 season.
The teams skated through a scoreless opening frame, with the Gophers holding a 13–7 advantage in shots on goal. Madison Kaiser, Nelli Laitinen, and Sydney Morrow each recorded a pair of shots to pace the Gopher offense early.

Big win over the 4th ranked team on UMD's home ice. Duluth did not have much of a home crowd advantage because many hockey fans were in the Twin Cities for the men's hockey game.

Best of luck tomorrow Gophers (3:00 pm BIG+)!

DULUTH, MINN. – The No. 3 University of Minnesota women's hockey team completed a series sweep of No. 4/5 Minnesota Duluth with a 3-2 win on Saturday afternoon at AMSOIL Arena. Senior forward Abbey Murphy recorded her fifth multi-goal game of the season, including the game-winning tally midway through the third period. With her performance, Murphy moved into sole possession of second place on Minnesota's all-time goals list, passing Gopher legend Hannah Brandt.
For the second straight game, the Gophers and Bulldogs skated to a scoreless opening period. Shots were even at 10-10 through 20 minutes, with Josefin Bouveng and Murphy each registering a pair.

Quotable
"A great win overall, it's a tough place to play," said Head Coach Brad Frost. "I'm really proud of our team for finding a way there, really bearing down in the third to keep that one goal lead, and ultimately win the game."

Frost on Murphy's Milestone
"It's a lot of goals," Head coach Brad Frost said. "She's one of, if not the, best goal scorers we've ever had here at the University of Minnesota. For her to do it how she's done it has been really impressive. This year I've seen her game take off and better than it ever has been. We're just really proud of her and all the energy she brings to our team. The goals are always something pretty special."

Third ranked Gophers beat #1 Wisconsin in Madison 5-1. Outstanding game. I think the announcers said the Gophers scored 5 goals in about 11 minutes. They tied the game 1-1 near the end of the second period and scored 4 goals in the first half of the third period. Go Gophers, beat the Badgers in the next game.

Wisconsin turned the tables on Minnesota (7-2). They scored their first goal 14 seconds into the game and a second goal about two minutes later. The Gophers were swarmed most of the game and couldn't dig out of the hole. Hannah Clark, who has been outstanding this season, was bombed. Get ready for the next game Gophers. There is a lot of games ahead.

The Gophers are having an outstanding season and should be in the mix for a national championship. They deserve the support of Gopherville. Go Gophers.
