Minnesota football polls, Week 8

They still don't realize that St. Peter can't be receiving votes in two classes.

1 v 4 and 3 v 5 in action tonight, potential State tournament preview for those 4. Will be interesting to see how the brackets shake out after the games wrap up. Looks like all of 6A in action with the exception of Edina vs. Mororhead which is tomorrow night for whatever reason.

All 6A games are tonight, there must be a typo on the date somewhere.

They may have decided to play a day later on a non-school day to ease the travel burden for a matchup of a metro team against Moorhead, particularly since 6A doesn't have playoff games next Tuesday like the lower classes.

I hope they love baseball because their 500 dollar a semester scholarship they’re looking for probably isn’t coming
You are correct. You get hardly anything for baseball or softball. My daughter could have gotten $1500 a year at a state school for softball. I told her unless you really love it they are going to own you for most of the year for $1500. You're not going to college for softball. She decided to concentrate on her studies.

Same here. My daughter could have played D2 soccer on scholarship but it was relatively small amount that it wasn't really a consideration if she liked another school. She's not going to be playing in college as the school she wants to go to didn't offer a scholarship. And realistically, she might not play that much anyway at the school she's going to because the program is stronger. So like you said, do you want them to own you for 4 years for that small amount of money?

Good battle between Rosemount and South. Rosemount got out to a 17-0 lead and hung on for a 20-15 win.

Rosemount has been a team somewhat under the radar this season but they have the qualities of a team that will be a very tough out for anyone; big and strong up front with some athletes that can get to to the edge. They will wear teams out and grind out wins in colder weather. Their defense may be tops in the state. I consider them the biggest threat to dethrone Maple Grove.

Unless you’re in the SEC for baseball or Oklahoma/ Texas tech for softball

Going to be interesting. Parc Williams always seems to have the D coached up and ready to perform and the offense has a number of threats and a QB who is getting better and better each week.

Hopefully team can get on a run all the way to US Bank Stadium in a few weeks.

Arguments for all orders exist.

Having seen all 3, I would go Moorhead-Edina-STMA, but just my opinion. STMA played MG & EP tough. I'd pick at least 2 of the 3 winning their first playoff game & whichever 3 gets the 6 could be looking at trouble.

If this is the seeding there will be at least 4 upsets according to seeding. I assume playoff brackets aren’t duplicated 2 years In a row. I think Anoka could beat Woodbury and give Lakeville South a good scare. Moorhead at Blaine or Prior Lake should be a spotlight game. Edina can beat pretty much anyone one time but haven’t proven to be consistent to go far, if I am them I want to be in Forest Lake’s 1/8.

STMA and Edina are 4-3 in section games. Moorhead is 2-4. STMA beat Moorhead and Moorhead beat Edina. Drop the Maroon opponents and Moorhead is 2-4, Edina is 3-3 and STMA is 2-4 in section games. With their QB healthy they looked good last night. QRF has it Edina, Moorhead, STMA.

Does QRF keep accumulating/calculating during section playoffs? Then is used for playoff seeding?

Lots of the cross over games were played in week #1 which really doesn't project to 7 weeks later.

North Cross over Game
Andover (5-3) beat Wayzata (1-7)
Champlin Park (7-1) beat STMA (3-5)
Blaine (5-3) beat Lakeville North (1-7)
Moorhead (4-4) beat Rogers (3-5)
Centennial (#1 Seed) beat Rosemount (#1 Seed)
Eden Prairie (6-2) beat Anoka (0-8)
Champlin Park (7-1) beat Lakeville North (1-7)

South Cross over Games
Lakeville South (6-2) beat Mounds View (4-4)
Lakeville South (6-2) beat WBL (2-6)
Shakopee (4-4, technically 5-3 had to forfeit week #1) beat Stillwater
Shakopee (5-3) beat Osseo (4-4)
Forest Lake #1 Seed beat Prior Lake (4-4)
Minnetonka (6-2) beat Prior Lake (4-4)
Farmington (4-4) beat WBL (2-6)
Rogers (3-5) beat Eagan (2-6)

Live show at 10am on StribVarsity website. Some of the lower levels have seeing posted on minnesota-scores.net.
Brackets are posted. Not thrilled with the draw Rosemount got. Prior Lake/Minnetonka in round 2 could be a good one.

Shakopee/Centenial as well

Some interesting seedings in class 4A:

Hutch (4-4) getting the 4 seed and a home game over St. Peter (7-1). .

I'm mildly surprised with this one. On one hand, yes, Hutch played the far superior schedule having played two of the top 5 teams in the class, losing to Rocori in a very close game. Hutch has made some major improvements since the first three games of the season. But at the same time, St. Peter's only loss is to Waseca who maybe be at top 5 teams in AAA. Then again St. Peter only played one 4A team and it wasn't a good one. Really tough to know how much credit to give to St. Peter for being 7-1 but I thought it might be enough to get the 4 seed over a 4-4 Hutch team. But should make for a very interesting 1st rd game.

True or not, I had heard they were going to get docked for not playing any teams in there section. Also more of a cupcake schedule than hutch

Yeah, definitely has to have to do with the schedule. Hutch might be undefeated if they play that schedule. I think they did play New Ulm who is in the section though. I'm not sure how that all works, maybe you're supposed to play a certain number of games in the section. Everyone but New Ulm and St. Peter played 3 section games so maybe you're supposed to play 3.

Looks like semis on 11/13 @ USB could be EP vs Rosemount/Tonka and Maple Grove vs Lakeville South.

Kind of a tough call to make either way-Hutch played an absolute grinder of a schedule while St Peter did their job against weaker competition. I am a Hutch fan but kind of expected St Peter to get the 4 although I think Hutch wins that matchup

Bulletin Board material. Should be a great game. St. Peter played all AAA games, so tough to tell, but they play defense giving up 6 points a game. Lost opening week to (8-0) Waseca 7-6 getting stopped on a 2pt conversion to win. Beat Albert Lea and quality Fairmont team. I thought 3 seed was in play but coaches thought otherwise. Really no common opponents on with other teams in their schedule. St. Peter, I believe is one of the smallest 4A enrollments.
