At the game tonight several times after big plays a Purdue players, sometimes alone, sometimes as a group ran through the end zone and seemed to taunt the crowd… even the band.

It was weird… I thought that was taunting.

Yep. Open end zone. Obviously their coach knew and condone it. I’ve never have witnessed that at any level of football. Maybe one player but the whole special teams.

I only saw it on kickoffs after scores. That coach must be a prick too.
 

It seemed fairly light-hearted imo. Still weird though.
 




The two most obvious taunts are done all the time and never flagged: The finger wag, and the "Shhh" of the crowd. If you're not going to enforce those then it's natural that other types of taunts will grow from there.

It's not that hard really. If the celebration you're doing has a subject, and that subject is the oppopent's players or crowd, it's a taunt. Call it.
 

That Purdue team was jacked up. They played with an attitude and reckless. I think it got them what they got in terms of plays and they outworked us. But I think it also got them penalties and interceptions. They could have probably had numerous other penalties for holding, PI, and taunting that were let go.

I thought the same, I was seated in end zone as they ran by taunting the fans
 




I saw that too and was disgusted by it. Purdue may have moved to the top of my list of disliked teams (not what I really want to say). I did like that after they taunted in the end zone after a kickoff we scored pretty quickly on them. Bunch of ***holes.

That's what is weird.

College football is usually very strict about taunting and doesn't allow for it, IIRC even if you see a lot directed at the crowd ... maybe they decided that it is ok now?

It could fall under this rule of unsportsmanlike conduct:
Inciting an opponent or spectators in any other way, such as simulating the firing of a weapon or placing a hand by the ear to request recognition.

I think we can be certain that if it was ever called in the Big Ten, it would be on the Gophers if we are in a close game vs Michigan or OSU.

Huh? Agree that they're pretty classless, but they would have to rape Goldy Gopher at midfield to move ahead of Iowa and the frick'n Badgers on my list of disliked teams.

Not to mention the player next to him rowing the boat lol. I would understand it if that score was the dagger late in the fourth, but that was to go up by four midway through the second quarter 😭😭😭

Yeah had Purdue pulled up 2 scores or something late ... I would get it. That would have been the end.

Purdue's antics are akin to AK shhhhhing the crowd ... in the 1st.

Little early.

The Purdue QB definitely gave the vibes of an insecure kid pretending to be Baker Mayfield. Like, he didn't even believe his pretend bravado.
