Gopher uniforms vs Purdue

Throwback means the Gophers used to wear white helmets and white pants? Anyone have some retro pics of that?

I will not be surprised if we see a day where the yellow numbers in this combo are illegal and numbers have to be white

Retro and respect for the past is always better than new age crap
Disagree, there is room for both throwbacks and embracing the current trend of alternate uniforms and looks.

I like these "throwbacks" and that is a rare situation for me because normally I hate white pants at home. Once per season in a sort of a retro configuration works pretty well. It helps a lot that the current uniforms have stripes on the pants.

Agree on the white pants thing. Not a huge fan of them with any jersey other than white road uniform. But in the case of these throwbacks they make sense.

I like them as a retro thing.

Otherwise it doesn't do much for me generally as a design, but that's fine.

Really? That seems like an odd take.
At the national high school level they have kind of banned yellow as both a primary and secondary color
It’s basically trim only.

College doesn’t necessarily follow national federation trends but

Out of curiosity.....why? Doesn't seem like it would give any kind of advantage in terms of hiding the ball or anything like that.

I was not privy to the choice but I think they don’t like not enough contrast

So yellow can’t be a home color because it doesn’t contrast enough with road color
But yellow also can’t be a number because it doesn’t contrast enough with either home nor road primary colors to see on film

In addition to it being homecoming, they are honoring the 1960 National Championship team this weekend. Not sure how many of them are still able to attend, but they expect Bobby Bell to be there. I am sure that played a part in adopting this particular uniform.

A Gopher fan should never miss an opportunity stand up and clap for Bobby Bell.

We wear gold, not yellow though. So we are all good.

I can’t remember the video I had to watch 100%
But I am 99% it was Georgia tech gold home uniforms that were no longer good as an example of a home color that doesn’t work.
And then the rule is your numbers have to be a color that would work as a home color
