LOS ANGELES – The No. 24-ranked UCLA women's volleyball team fell to Indiana in four sets on Saturday night inside Pauley Pavilion presented by Wescom Financial.

Set scores were 25-20, 17-25, 23-25, 21-25.

The Bruins (8-6, 2-2 Big Ten) claimed the opening set before dropping three straight frames. Indiana (13-1, 4-0 Big Ten) remains unbeaten in conference play after receiving double-digit kill performances from Candela Alonso-Corcelles (18 kills), Avry Tatum (17 kills), and Jaidyn Jager (11 kills).

Welp season's over, I doubt this team can pull off a run like the Indiana Fever did but stranger things have happened.

swept at home by unranked UCLA. Effing pathetic. Team is trash. Embarrassing!!

UCLA may be unranked after a rough weekend last week but they’re talented. That said I don’t believe the gophers can compete with the B1G schools this year. They are just out of sorts. The first set looked like Michigan all over and blowing a16-11 lead in the second set that’s when I stopped watching.

I expect the 10th ranked. Oops. I mean 14th ranked team in the country to at least compete against an unranked opponent. MN nice I see. Our teams will NEVER win a championship. Realistic, I know. Better game being played by Concordia.

While the injuries are certainly devastating, I'm also wondering if the opponents don't also have the scouting report nailed down with this Gopher team. It's like they know exactly how to exploit the Gophers now. Players' tendencies, weaknesses, etc.

These last three matches have really amplified my doubts about Keegan's coaching abilities. Sorry, just being honest. That Michigan match was the worst volleyball performance I have witnessed out of a Gopher team in my ten years or so of following. Given the injuries, it's not the losses that are concerning. It's the level of play. We've even seen some pretty bad body language.

There better be some fantastic practices over the next couple of weeks or this season may spiral completely down the drain.

I had to double check and make sure I wasn't on Volleytalk after reading all the snark on here. Everyone needs to take a breath. The injuries this team has suffered are devastating. We lost our #2 and #3 hitters in Wucherer and Acevedo. We lost our #1 Libero. We lost one of our top 2 middles (not sure who to rank #1 between Minatee and Myers). Tonight we started 5 freshman in our 8 deep rotation. Had everyone stayed healthy Garr, Gilk, Taylor and Kinney would have been bit players. Every one of the freshmen are talented and have great potential. None of them are ready to be starters on top 4 Big Ten team. That's the reality we face. I'm not sure what lever you want Cook to pull tonight. Gilk and Kinney couldn't get the ball on the floor so they force fed Hanson. Everyone in the building knew it was coming so it wasn't very effective. Don't say set the middles. Myers and Swenson looked they were on different planets tonight. Maybe Cook is the right coach, maybe he's not but let's be honest, even living legend John Cook would struggle with this team right now. Bottom line is anything above 10th in the conference is going to be a great accomplishment. The rest of this season should be judged on the development of the freshmen.

Just look at the set distribution. Either that changes -- and players respond -- or this team has no chance to compete. Yes, they are missing starters. But you can argue that they were all, aside from Z, going to be challenged by the bench players now playing. The 2025 version of Acevedo is probably the biggest loss, I admit, but they should not be playing this poorly.

So why are they? They play absolutely horrible floor defense, which may have something to do with the blocking. I sure don't know. I don't have Big Ten anymore, so I can't watch much.

Worst in 35 years for me.
