Who you got?

If JJ doesn’t have the Chicago comeback, I don’t think it ends up being much of a question, unless Wentz really stinks it up internationally.

I normally don’t allow changes in votes, but this is a unique situation, so I will.

The poll is open until the day after the London game.

I would like Wentz, but I think it will be JJ, but I could be wrong, I often am🤷‍♂️

JJ if they are serious about the future.

Wentz if they are just f-----g around.

I need JJ to prove himself first. Wentz named next games starter. He plays well and they win you gotta go with him again. If not then back to JJ and if he doesn’t do well then we have a QB controversy. I want JJ to be the guy since we haven’t had a franchise QB it seems like forever

So play Wentz, do nothing this year, and wait some more.

That would be typical vikings

JJ doesn’t have it and the Vikes have been hiding this fact to protect trade value. I expect another season on the sideline.
You hate to see it.

Play JJ. Either he proves me wrong and is the QB of the future, or we can move on quicker if he confirms that he is not an NFL QB.
So just take a giant S___ on this season, with the roster we have built up and the playcallers we have?

Sorry good sir ... but F____ that.

No.

You play to win, right now. You will never go wrong trying win games.

No one has a clue if McCarthy is just another Ponder.

I will not sign off on trashing this season just to find that out. NO sir

Wentz will play this week. That will be a huge help.

He (Wentz) is either going to make the decision really easy, or really hard. I'm guessing it will be the latter.

McCarthy is making the trip.

No matter what happens, coaches need to decide if they want McCarthy's first snaps back to be against the Browns abroad or against the Eagles at home. Assuming he's ready in a week, which he probably could be.

I would agree with you if your alternative was something better than Carson Wentz.

Be honest, there is no alternative universe where the Vikings win the Super Bowl this season.

First of all, you have no idea if that's true after week 3.

But far more importantly, implying that anything short of winning the Super Bowl means we should have tried to tank the season ... I suggest anyone thinking that should hand in their fan card and stop watching the games. Such an idea is absurd and hopefully you weren't suggesting anything of the sort.

Let's see this week. I hope he makes it really hard for the coaches to decide who to play against the Browns, assuming McCarthy could play in that game.

Where is anyone remotely suggesting the Vikings should "tank the season"?

Playing McCarthy would not suggest anything different has changed since Week 2. I firmly believe either Wentz or McCarthy (when healthy) can accumulate enough victories for Minnesota to advance to the Wild Card with decent OL play and their full complement of WRs.

I also think the odds are slim that the Vikings will be able to finish higher than both Detroit and Green Bay in the NFC North standings as well as win multiple games in January to advance to the Super Bowl no matter who is the starting QB.

this. Wentz is not your ticket to a SB (same as Rodgers was not or any of the FA QBs at the cost of what you would've lost in terms of others they signed). Wentz got the best version of the Vikings line they've had all year which will help IMMENSELY for JJ as well. Throwing Jurgens in in the middle of that game with turnstile Skule (and then his backup) already was disastrous and we would've seen Wentz getting drilled in that situation as well.

GB and Detroit both look better than the Vikings, as do the Eagles and Bills and in a 1 and done with the teams like the Chargers, Chiefs, pretty much all the NFC west, and Bucs amongst others all looking relatively even/toss ups, the likelihood unless you find out you have a franchise altering type guy at QB means you're generally an also ran. They look like a WC team with or without JJM and at least him playing means you know if you need to be drafting again in the QB room next year. I get the roster is experienced and talented, but they're a midtier talent wise team. Same as they were last year. And much of their talent is going to rely on remaining healthy and then the matchups they get in the postseason if they get there (where our OL got absolutely wrecked).

No one is saying you're giving up on the season if JJM plays. If he is a clear liability and you're ready to move on, fine. Then play Wentz. I don't see why you would be there after 2 games with a broken ass OL

guessing he sits through the international games and then is back the week after the bye for a huge home game with Philly

Let's see this week. I hope he makes it really hard for the coaches to decide who to play against the Browns, assuming McCarthy could play in that game.
If we have a choice, I'd much rather subject Wentz to that CLE pass rush, especially with JJM coming off the injury. Before the season, I thought the CLE game would be a gimme but that Browns defense is no joke.

Agreed. There is a huge difference between being a pessimist versus a realist.

Judd had an interesting theory on Purple Daily yesterday. Since the first two games out of the bye are Philadelphia and at the Chargers on a Thursday Night, they might kick the can two more games and bring JJ back after that "mini-bye". They are likely to lose both of those regardless of who starts, so they probably don't want to bring JJ back only to immediately lose twice in 5 days.

If Wentz wins both, we SB Bound Baby🤠

So you want McCarthy's first snaps back to be against Philly, after having not played since the Falcons debacle?

"They are likely to lose both of those"

🙄 Glad I don't listen to that podcast. Sounds like a podcast for those who accept losing.

If we have to coddle and protect JJM to this level then we had no business drafting him to begin with. He's already proven to be injury prone. Are we now also concerned that he's mentally soft as well?

The kid has had one (1) good Quarter against one of the worst defenses in football thus far this season. He's been an absolute dumpster fire outside of that.

We probably need to already start taking a hard look at QBs in the 2026 Draft if we have to pick and choose which teams are safe for JJM to play against.

I'll be honest with you, Grit...I want the kid to be the next Joe Montana but I was not a fan of his coming out of the Draft and especially where we selected him.

I fully concede that with how important having a franchise QB is, sometimes you need to roll the dice. We shall see how this plays out and I'm rooting for him. This team desperately needs him to be the "guy".

There are many recent day 1 drafted qbs that got the heave ho after 1 or 2 seasons. Get rid of rookie $ contracts and maybe people make different decisions.

I'm having trouble finding a single thing to disagree with you on this. Think you pretty much nailed it.

Only minor thing I'll disagree with you is this: what this team needs is to win a G-D Superbowl!! That's what we need.

I also was not a fan of the pick, for what it's worth. But I am not rooting for his failure.

My big worry, as I have been saying for a while now, is that with this defensive roster and Flores, our window to win is now and to me that points to having some kind of veteran QB.

Maybe Wentz will be another magical Keenum/Darnold. Why not? He can still sling it, and he can make decisions that a vet who has seen it all already can make.

That's a fascinating concept and well worth a discussion. There's no doubt in my mind that would change how teams approach building their rosters.
