I want to put you guys on to something.
Jersey Mike's in Maple Grove turns out to be a hotbed of Gopher wisdom, lol!

I stopped in there last week to grab sandwich (Mike's way, naturally), and I was taken aback by the staff who engaged with me in pretty legit Gopher talk the whole time. I had a Gophers shirt on, which tipped them off.

Guy making my sandwich was looking forward to the Cal game, knew all about our roster, dropped some history about the program on me (Apparently Jeff Jones was the U's lone five star recruit of the modern era), and was an all around super nice guy.

Dude handling toppings was also a Gopher fan and kept the conversation going.

I don't work for Jersey Mikes, but it was the kind of interaction I wanted to share in case any of you live in that area. I was only passing through, but I like to support businesses with great service and Gopher fandom.

Forget Jeff Jones, do we have any kind of ranking information for Jack Jones?

Well, Goldy used to beat up on The Giant Sub during the Subway Shootout during hockey intermissions back in the late 90s/early 00s......perhaps that soured Subway's level of friendliness?

Originally considered a potential five star talent but has performed at a half star level since coming to the board. The mods have unsurprisingly failed to develop him into either a competent or conversation driving contributor even though they've been moderating his content for years. It's my opinion mods of high school football boards could do a better job, and I know what I'm talking about because I've got vast moderating experience.

Long story short, mods on other fan boards have done more with less, ours need to be fired immediately for failing to get Jack Jones to post to his potential. They're a bunch of amateurs.

You win the day!

Jersey Mikes is great! Big sponsor of Special Olympics MN. They gave just under $1 million to SOMN from their month of giving.

While I’m on that note - the USA games are at the U this year, they will need around 10,000 volunteers, look for opportunities soon (think after new year). It’s an amazing experience to go watch and cheer or volunteer for SO.

I'm relatively new to the Jersey Mike's ecosystem.
That said, here are my curent sandwich shop power rankings (Amongst big chains)

1) Jersey Mikes
2) Potbelly
3) Jimmy Johns
4) Panera
5) Subway

Not included due to being of limited chain size: Mi Saint, Pho Saigon (has an awesome Banh Mi bar), and Nelson's Deli

Aren't there any Schlotzky's still open? I'd definitely put them in the mix.

Firehouse Subs are also top-notch.

Earl of Sandwich is the best. Which Wich 2nd place.

No Schlotzky's that I'm aware of, but with a name like that I can tell it would be good!
I will have to check Firehouse out asap!
It's a shame all the Schlotzky's closed in the twin cities. I would stop at the one on Shady Oak Rd in the Opus area when I was near there.

Good sandwich, but the philosophy at Jersey Mike's seems to be to have their employees chit chat you to death while they make your sandwich. I order online and get the hell out of there.

For sure - the old Trader Joe's Clerk approach. But I am not bothered by it in that setting because I'm happy about getting a sandwich.
