***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA AT CAL BATTLE OF THE “GOLDENS” GOLD-OUT IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

So if I am reading this right you think we should try and get pressure on the QB as opposed to just letting him stand in the pocket.....got it.....

Don't mean to be a prick but think it is pretty obvious that the D is going to try and bring as much pressure as possible to make the young inexperienced QB as uncomfortable as possible and force him into making mistakes.....it is basically football 101.

The kid is clearly talented, but I feel very confident that we have the best D he has played against in his career to this point so will be interesting to see how he holds up. Said in another thread that Anthony Smith needs to introduce himself early in the game and let him know it is going to be a long night.

Do you know much about Cal besides the QB? I can’t name another player and I can’t pronounce his name.

Is there OL good? Their WRs? Defense?

You’re one of the more reliable posters which is why I’m asking you.

Watched most of their first game, didn't see the second one. The LB who got suspended for targetting last week is a big loss for them in the first half, hopefully we can take advantage of it.

I don't know a ton about them but from what I have seen I expect a close game as they seem very similar to us. Both teams have untested QBs so both are going to find out a lot today about how their guy handles a step up in competition.

Their QB has a chance to be really good but he is a true freshman so hopefully we make him make freshman mistakes. Their skill guys didn't jump out as being anything special in what I saw.

Some (not me) like to laugh at the absurdity of Cal being in the Atlantic Coast Conference. If I were to launch a boat from the shores in the image above and navigate the waters westward, I could eventually make it to the shores of the eastern seaboard. Who is to tell me that I wasn’t traversing the waters of the Atlantic all along? What if it is all Atlantic coast?
A Coast Conference? It really is one contiguous ocean...

It is absurd. It has been fun though too. And having games on espn instead of the dumb p12 network has been a godsend

OL has been good at pass pro, but has been inconsistent run blocking.

WRs are a weakness. Have not been getting great separation and a lot of drops.

RB's are all new but Kendrick Raphael has looked good. Not as explosive as we're used to but he's pretty good at everything else.

Defense is pretty strong. Front 7 very deep and Masses, Austin and Crosby have all looked great as DBs

I mentioned that an elderly Minnesota fan hit my beer bong before the 2006 game, and went on to talk about it on John Maddens radio show

Well I now have evidence. So at least some experiences on frat row are good.

Enjoy the game!
Love the disposable Kodak camera. I still have a few of those lying around the house and I have no idea what's on them.

This is the latest Gophers game that I’ve ever stayed up for since 1994. Better not disappoint.

I was thinking that last season's game at UCLA was the same start time but I looked it up and it started and hour and a half earlier. This one will go until at least 12:30 maybe 1:00 AM.

7:38 pm and I’m hanging in for dear life…might need to snooze and set a 9:30 pm alarm

Playing a game that starts at 9:30 or later for everyone east of the Rockies, is poor marketing. Why would you do that? Saturday afternoon start would make much more sense for everybody.

What Bob wants, Bob gets. I’d imagine it’s some kind of Disney ACC contractual obligation but smarter people would have to say 🤷‍♂️. On a positive note it will be one of the few games on so late and will get a lot of eyeballs.

I was just wondering about that. The Ole Miss/Arkansas game got delayed due to a player injury. Still about 11 minutes left in that game.
I've got quad screen going and the Ole Miss/Arkansas game, Notre Dame/A&M game and Iowa/Umass games all had injury delays with a player being carted off for a head/neck injury within about 10 minutes of each other, was very surreal.

JLR was moving pretty good in warmups. Think he gives it a go tonight.

A good amount of maroon in the stands.

Unfortunately this Canelo v Crawford fight card is gunna overlap with the game. So I may have to watch a recording later. See y'all on the other side
