It is definitely stronger. Yet to see if he has the touch/timing that Tanner had. But early indications are that Drake sure looks like he will end up being being better than Tanner by the time his Gopher days are over.

He looks very good. He had nice placement on the ball and can move around the pocket to gain some time.

He will be one of the best QB's we have had in the program.

He comes from a very rich family (Almost certainly multiple 100s of millions) so immediate money will not be the factor it would be with some other kids. I think perfecting his craft so he could be the number one pick in the draft and winning a national championship will be bigger factors. He may not achieve either but I think he is going to try - and probably with the blessing of his sports loving family. I hope I'm right about this as he is the best QB I have seen at MN in 41 years of being a season ticket holder. I have high hopes for Drake

Looks like he has the skills. I’m going to temper my expectations until the end the season.

Yeah I wasn't saying he doesn't have touch. Early indications are positive but Morgan had 4 years to show us. Drake just needs to consistently show it against top competition.
 





Drake has the most "arm talent" of any Fleck QB so far, who have been asked to be game managers. Even Tanner during his great year, was a game manager - one that happened to have 2 NFL receivers on his team. Drake can throw a deep route - Tanner could throw a slant route and have his receiver het RAC yards. Big difference.

I mean, AK had a decent arm but seemingly couldn't hit a crossing route and the general lack of production was maddening. Lindsey's short time so far looks like he has "it". Let's hope that carries through to the Power 4 teams.

Side note: it probably didn't hurt to watch an intelligent QB like Brosmer for a year.

Did a little googling and it does appear that Drake was probably born between third and home plate and has not had many money worries in his life. Good for him.

With that it does appear that the family business is pretty complex, heavily weighted with both commercial and residential property management as the portfolio driver, and it looks like dad had financial difficulties around 2010. Grandpa did a lot to help out of that jam.

Money is money though. Guess we'll see.

If Grandpa Jim did just some things right in the real estate biz in NW Arkansas during that time period, he should easily be in the nine figure fortune territory by now.

Here's Morgan to Bateman vs. Indiana in 2018, Morgan was a redshirt freshman.

If you pause the video when Morgan releases the throw, you can see he's on the Minnesota 28 yard line. Pause again when Bateman catches it, and Bateman is on the Indiana 25 yard line. That's 47 yards in the air, in the rain. Not quite 50+, but not too shabby. It's certainly not a slant route!

Not only did Morgan show some stuff, but that game was the birth of PJ Style Minnesota Defense, where from that game forward our D is still reaching for "maximum elite" to this day.

At 3:34 vs Purdue in the snow and wind: releases the throw at the Minnesota 33, and the pass is caught at the Purdue 10. That's 56 yards in the air.

There are more deep throws. I enjoyed the great memories while watching.

Easy to see why Drake was so focused on golf as a kid as well. They own like 30-40 courses.

Well, one of the announcers doing the Buffalo game stated that Minnesota's lack of resources will not drive him to the portal. I was dismayed that personal finances had to be part of the broadcast. Boundaries, please.

Understood however tough start stories where sports opens many new, mostly unavailable opportunities...even before NIL where at a minimum pursuing the education side was a backstop...have always been admired.

Personal economics coming into the spotlight has always been present. Looks like Drake's upcoming journey may be a window into the possibilities through a different lense. Certainly hope so.

Never know in this current landscape but I like our chances to keep him around. But all we can do is worry about the present because with the portal and all the money flouting around you just never know how it is going to play out with players.
