Bill Belichick has banned Patriots scouts from attending UNC practices to scout their players

I would love to hear from some of the friendly UNC fans who were on our board before our games over the last couple of years. They have to feel absolutely sick about their program. This is going to be a total trainwreck.
Isn't it already?

What a hire. I was like, "this isn't going to end well" from the first moment I heard this old guy was suddenly going to turn up in college football. Yikes.

What a disaster for UNC. This never made sense from the first day and it's only gotten worse.

The AD's job should be on the line for this mess if this continues, if they care enough about football in Chapel Hill.

Go Gophers!!

I swear I got the impression from rumors at one point that the AD and even UNC officials were lukewarm about hiring Bill but some donors and such were gun ho ...

Maybe they were more into it than I thought, but this might be a case where the lunatics were running the asylum.

That first game was great! Going to be one of the more entertaining teams to follow this year. He seems like one of the most genuine pricks in football. And then he's coaching at a place that is "holier than thou" despite their history of sweeping dirt under the rug. Add the girl friend and I'm not sure I have enough popcorn for the season.

Watched part of the first game just to see them get their ass kicked, it didn't disappoint. Hopefully it keeps going down hill.

This whole situation is weird….

I suppose he is saving those scouts some time.. but otherwise why would you do that?

“Come play for an NFL coach! Oh no we’re going to make it harder for folks to scout YOU for your dream of playing in the NFL…”
If he is banning all scouts from practices it is one thing.....if he is only banning Patriots scouts that is just petty and stupid.

Some coaches want scouts at their practices some don't because they can be a distraction to the players.

As others mentioned I thoroughly enjoyed watching TCU rip UNC apart in game 1. Belichek gets to be this years Deion, getting way more attention then his program deserves because of who the coach is and not how they play on the field.

So he's hurting his own players by banning more scouts from seeing them? I can totally see other coaches using that against him....

This thing is going to be a complete dumpster fire....I'd be surprised if he's even back next year....and I'm just sitting here with the popcorn enjoying the circus LOL

The national media sucked up to him and said he was a great hire.

Everyone with a brain knew this was going to be a disaster.

Plus, Lombardi is the icing on the cake. That guy is a joke. He has absolutely no clue, but he's good with the media.

Certainly looks like he won't be able to shake the Brady portion of his legacy as he has really struggled when he didn't have the GOAT playing QB for him.

Hadn't seen the actual numbers but that doesn't surprise me. When Brady left and won a Super Bowl with Tampa it basically cemented the fact that it was way more him than BB that led New England to all those titles.

Petty, petty, petty was exactly my thought.

This is why he should have just retired to TV.
There are a million other things, directly or closely related to the game at both the college and pro levels, he could have been paid well for instead. Deciding to go to a UNC program that has never made it over the hump, and redoing his roster, was certainly an in interesting choice. Maybe he wanted to tee his son up for some bigger gigs?

I believe he only took the job because he didn’t want to sit out a season and disappear from the public light, and thereby disappear from owners memories.

I think his ego told him he could dominate the college game and head back to the nfl next year in his ultimate pursuit of passing Don Shula for number 1 in the NFL all-time wins list.

His minimal buyout is designed exactly for this.
