Koi Perich, DB/WR, Minnesota

It’s not like Travis Hunter brought two-way stardom to college football, but he did it at the highest level possible and no doubt inspired others to work toward that kind of impact. Perich, as reported by The Athletic’s Scott Dochterman, is college football’s best hope in 2025 for that kind of player. He stood out as a freshman safety and returner, and now P.J. Fleck declares it “isn’t a gimmick” that Perich is going to make a difference for Minnesota’s offense. If it’s more than the occasional wildcat snap or trick play, he will be that program’s most talked-about player since Laurence Maroney 20 years ago.

I'll be real curious to see not only how much Perich plays on offense, but how deep of an impact he makes there. I sort of naturally have assumed it is a bit of a gimmick. But if he actually does play a lot and is effective - it really helps erase one of the question mark areas for this team at receiver.

My fondest memories were watching barber and maroney just destroy opponents.. i also remember watching teams like mich rally from 31 down
Such a fucking shame that Mason was prone to defensive collapse. He had some fun teams.

My guess is the approach will be heavy on defense and sporadically on offense. A weapon for the team to use when it has the ball to add a different element in the mix here and there. Similar to how Michigan used Charles Woodson or Jabrill Peppers.

What offensive position did Perich play in HS?
As per the interweb: As a star at Esko High School up near Duluth, MN, Perich played on offense, defense, and special teams and was always the best athlete on the field. He was both a running back and a wide receiver. He also played a package as wildcat quarterback.
