I wasn’t expecting to see Tim Tebow’s name on the list. A Heisman and at least one national championship though. I can’t think of any college QB who was better. Plunked? Staubach?

There was a time Tebow wasn’t even the best QB on his own team when cam newton was there

Tebow wasn’t the starting QB on the first national title team. Chris leak was.
He won a heisman on a 4 loss team.
He won a national title, then the program and he was passed by Alabama before he left
The bama dynasty started when Tebow was at Florida

Part of being a great player is doing the things to get on the field. Newton couldn’t get academic eligible and got in trouble.

I’m not sure if Tebow is the #1 college QB of all time but his resume can be argued against anyone.

People with resumes at or near Tebow would have:
A heisman trophy and a national title as a starter

Yes Tebow is one of the all time greats but here are some QBs in the post BCS era that fit that bill. I won’t go before that era because it would take too long:
Carson Palmer
Matt lienhart
Jason white
Cam newton
Jameis winston
Joe Burrow




Tim tebow’s resume gets inflated because for some reason people credit Chris leaks title to him. That season he had 33 pass attempts and 469 yards rushing.




Let me name two quarterbacks who only had 3000 passing and 30+ touchdowns in one season and also never had 1000 yards rushing in a season:
Tim tebow
Tanner Morgan
PS Morgan threw for more career yards

No I am not saying Morgan is as good as Tebow. I’m saying tebows stats are not ridiculously good so winning is what separates him. And he didn’t win that much more than other great players.
 

At the QB position, I would talk about Michael Vick or Vince Young. Those guys could take over a game and single handily get their team a win. Tebow just didnt do it for me.

It’s amazing how the greatest QB’s in the NFL & college don’t correlate.
