Another recruiting tool for coach Fleck? The city of Minneapolis?

Honestly, I simply don't like driving through pot hole streets. Mpls is terrible and St Paul isn't much better. The infrastructure of the city seems to be breaking up. I just went to Minnehaha Falls and steps are breaking with one path entirely blocked off. The city seems to be more and more impoverished despite having some of the highest taxes. I have to ask where all those tax revenues are being spent if it's not for the infrastructure of the city.
While Mpls may be better than other larger cities, that doesn't necessarily mean its doing that well.
That is one of the Fringe benefits of Vision Zero.

They will not fix streets without redesign.

I have only met one person that approves of vision zero. Problem I see is nationally, we are ten years in and deaths have only went up in Every City that adopted the policy. Some have set records since its adoption.

Yet we every politician that defends the plan says its data driven. It’s like they don’t comprehend that Zero deaths logically means deaths should be trending lower instead of higher.

Mpls is often listed as an unsafe city. Gopher coaches have to deal with this. Every large metro area has their safe zones and neighborhoods to avoid. But one has to accept the reality where Mpls ranks. MSP is a huge metro area offering their pluses and trying to minimizing the negatives. There are other BIG located in large metro areas and dealing with the same issue. And some have lesser concerns. But it all boils down to where the studs want to play.

I have relatives in St Louis and the west side (specifically the north side) is bad.
Of course there are pockets of good. Like Mpls, each block will have a different vibe. One block may be neighbors bonding together while the next may be terrorized by gang violence. We humans are odd.
Yes. Much like many cities.

Regarding the bold, yes! Very much so.

Late to the party here but to those of you familiar with Vancouver, we'll be there for a few days in September. Going to Victoria and the botanical gardens 1 day. What else would you recommend (site seeing, restaurants, bars)? Thanks in advance.
Renting a car?

Yeah, there are some ugly buildings like that, but recently, they’ve built many good looking ones.

When I hear Soviet era architecture I think of the fugly apartment skyrise near the UM West Bank. Is it called Cedar Riverside or something like that?
I call that "Good Times." Intro from the 70s TV show lol

Cabrini- Green? If so, not even close.
Have you dropped into Little Mogadishu lately? Just get off the blue line at the Cedar/Riverside stop and walk around the neighborhood at night. Enjoy.

BTW, Chicago razed Cabrini Green about 25 years ago.

I am well aware that Cabrini Green was torn down. A person I knew lived in Cabrini Green's high-rise. Trust me it's not as bad as Cabrini was. Furthermore, Unless you are visiting someone at Cedar Square West, you wouldn't go there.

BTW I have walked around there at night. I didn't have any issues, but I am a decent sized butt ugly guy.

All big cities have issues. I see more hope than I do despair.
Yes. But any mention of it is "politically motivated."
Honest question. Do you support the current Police chief?
Even better if the child was accepted.
Haha! Fumble!!!!

There aren't many places worse than Cabrini in its day, so picking the worst and saying Mpls is good in comparison really isn't accurate to the troubles Mpls is facing.

If Mpls didn't have a socialist city council I might see more hope, but the council is, as I see it, the least inclusive it has been in 20 years and is moving toward abusively treating anyone who doesn't comply with their radical progressive agenda. It is sad when a liberal like Frey is being shut down for not agreeing with the radical left.

I know you long for a debate on the 'ills' of Minneapolis. This thread was about Minneapolis being a potential recruiting tool for coach Fleck.

I think that many former players could help coach Fleck with that. Cheers!

If driving:

To do the Sea to sky route (Vancouver to Jasper/ Banff would basically be your whole trip and very rushed.

If you elect to spend a day on Vancouver Island, look up a whale watching tour. Pretty much guaranteed to see Orcas with a chance to see other larger whales.

Are you saying that players that plan on applying to Carlson School of Management might be interested? Public Affairs, Poly-Sci?
Where are all those former Gopher players living? Are there any living in the city of Minneapolis or are they living in more prosperous suburbs?

Or, if you're just a plain old white guy wearing a ball cap with the new Minnesota state flag on it, walk into any small-town bar 2-3 hours outside of the TC. Enjoy!

Nothing would happen. Probably stare at you and give you some crap. At least not run for your life like in MPLS.
