To say Big Ten football is in flux would be a little much, but in 2025 there’s a lot of unknowns about the conference. Veterans at important positions have moved on to the next level, and with the transfer portal wiping out rosters, trying to rank teams ahead of the season is a task more suited for fortune tellers.

Yet, here we are. Trying to do the impossible, because that’s what we do here. Let’s go through every Big Ten team and rank them ahead of the season.

:

15. Minnesota Golden Gophers

On the good side, Minnesota retained RB Darius Taylor and nickel Koi Perich. Perich could be one of the most exciting players in college football next year, he’s going to play both ways for the Gophers. They might need him to because the defense lost their coordinator and both starting cornerbacks, and on offense they lose both tackles and top WR Daniel Jackson. New starting QB Drake Lindsey has his work cut out for him

The Gophers have a lot of question marks going into the season. But I’ll definitely take the over on the Gophers’ implied finish at 15th place in the B1G … unless PJ delivers a couple of surprising losses to teams that have no business beating us, as he has in some years … or too many top dogs get injured. .

I saw one on tik tok this week (granted, anyone can produce a tik tok regardless of their level of college football knowledge) that ranked the B1G's QB's for 2025. The Gophers slid in at #18 on that one.

I have noticed the problems in Madison Wisconsin have finally become obvious enough that MOST (but not all) predictions have them finishing low this year. There are some mediocre programs (Wisconsin, Nebraska) that consistently get the benefit of the doubt in off season prognostications, while there are other teams that no matter how much promise they show to those in the know, the uninformed people looking for views and clicks always seem to underestimate them. I put the Gophers into that category.
