All Things 2024-25 Minnesota Timberwolves In-Season Thread

Some of the opinions/takes on there are insane, but I agree that we won that trade overall.
Yeah, for what we needed, we won the trade but that doesn't mean New York lost. They needed another primary scorer. The trade gives us flexibility. Randle has been amazing this post season but KAT was a much better player during the year.

The funny thing is that Randle's play has been so good, he might have played his way into eating up whatever flexibility we thought we were getting.

There are a few rumors floating around that MIN is willing to offer 5/$150M if he opts out. Apparently, his wife and kids love MIN and Julius is a huge fan of Finch and the way he utilizes his talents within the offense.

It does seem that he's played his way towards a deal worth closer to $40M/year, though.

They were talking about the Rudy trade.

he'll 100% opt out and look to sign something big as he'll be 31 next year. He's make just a hair more than Hartenstein right now. definitely think he'll fetch near 40 if he goes to FA, but might be at less years

I honestly think our plan was to use his expiring this summer as a trade piece and add more flexibility. But luckily for us, he has shown to be much more valuable than that.

5/$150 sounds about right. I think at that point, you do it. If you can make it 3/$120, I might like it more.

At age 31, I would definitely prefer your suggestion of 3/$120M and that remains a tradable contract if team roster dynamics should change in the next 1-2 years.

His age and the fact that only a rebuilding team (Nets) would have enough cap space to sign him should work in favor for the Wolves in negotiations.
