The Athletic has the Gopher women ranked #17 for the upcoming season in what they note is a "way too early look at the 2025 season. Story is behind a paywall, however. Story also ranks UCLA #4, Michigan #11, Washington #12, Maryland #13, Michigan State #14 and Iowa #16. Going to be one heck of Big Ten season coming up!

This story is dated May 13 and notes it is "post transfer portal".

Cool, although that was more than a month ago. A lot has changed, portal-wise, since then.

UCONN will repeat as National Champions next season, and it won't even be close.
Wisconsin transfer Serah Williams will win a Natty with UCONN and head to the WNBA where she will be a nice backup F/C. Put your money down.

UConn will be a heavy favorite with her, Strong, Fudd, and KK Arnold.

The May 13th updated list talked about above:

So, 9 Big Ten teams in the top 30 discussion. I do believe the list is sleeping on a 10th team, USC: USC outlook
Indiana finished ahead of the Gophers last year and has pretty much a new team with some acclaimed additions: Indiana
Nebraska went to the NCAA Tournament last year and expects to return: Nebraska
Oregon and Kelly Graves also finished ahead of the Gophers...they have 6 portal additions...Sr from Fresno St averaged 18.3 ppg, 6-4 addition from Texas, and highly rated freshmen. I believe they'll compete for a top 10 finish in the conference,
So, that is 13 teams that I think have legitimate claims to finish in the Top 10 of the Big Ten at season's end.
Gophers ranked at 7th should be an NCAA Tournament team with likely a minumum of 10 entrants.

Minnesota is ranked too high. They shouldn't be in the top 25 until they prove they can beat someone in the conference.

I like the high ranking because there should be high expectations for Coach P in year 3 with a Gopher team loaded with talented upperclassmen and star-in-the-making Tori McKinney.

On your list. (On mine, too, incidentally.) But perhaps this listmaker really values how much talent each team has coming back? I can see that being a reason to rank the Gophers pretty high.
