He was and is a nice guy.Wonder what ever happened to this guy who started the gopher hole over 20 years ago. Seemed like a nice guy too.
My understanding was Groth started gopher hole in the early 90’sDave Christensen (sp?) predated Groth. I remember him from the 90's.
"Jason Groth" still shows up on the members online list from time to time. So, he's around.Wonder what ever happened to this guy who started the gopher hole over 20 years ago. Seemed like a nice guy too.
Yep, I'm still around. Mainly a lurker these days, due to kids and life, but still a big fan. I started Gopher Hole in the spring of 1996, as a basketball-only site. Dave Christianson started a football-only site (Gopher Gridiron?) around the same time. We joined forces for a few years when Gopher Hole became part of Rivals.com in the late 90s.
Do you remember the first (and only) Gopherhole Golf Tourney at Mississippi Dunes GC in 1998? The gal that joined us had to be on the U golf team and I'm convinced that Rouser set the course record for most lost balls in a round.Yep, I'm still around. I found your site while looking for something more online for the Gophers BB run to the final four.. found it right before the awesome Clemson game!Yep, I'm still around. Can we do this again? Seriously.Fondly remember the "Take it to the Hole" t=shirts for fundraising
Hell yaCan we do this again? Seriously.
I don't believe Bleed could be there (out of state?) but I think there was 12 of us that played and kept the beverage cart lady quite busy.My memory is fading, but there was a Gopher Hole golf outing & I can't remember if Mississippi Dunes was the location. I think Jason, Slim Tubby, Barn Burner, and Bleed were there? I recall BB and I were in the same group. Any of you remember it that way?
It was a nice outing, but I played like crap!
What and raise enough to pay the 104th player on the FB team?Gophers should do a NIL Golf Fundraiser. I'd play if available.
A local hospital does an annual golf fund raiser at my golf course. They raise over $1 million dollars every year (10+ years in a row). What and raise enough to pay the 104th player on the FB team?
I did go to Tartan, but I'm old enough that it was before the WWW, so I didn't start Gopher Hole until a few years later in college. If I remember correctly Jason, you started gopher hole while you were a student at Tartan HS. Correct?
Yes, I definitely remember the one and only GH golf outing. I think Rouser and the artist formerly known as Hodger were there as well. There was definitely a woman who had played for the Gophers and left us all in her dust. And I think Bleed (not a golfer) might have met us after the round?I don't believe Bleed could be there (out of state?) but I think there was 12 of us that played and kept the beverage cart lady quite busy.
I had BarnBurner on "Ignore" so I can neither confirm or deny his attendance but I do recall seeing a short bus in the golf course parking lot.
wasn't a lot of that Doug Wrenn's mom's fault? Can we solve a 30 year mystery? I still want to know why Sam’s minutes were limited? I remain skeptical of the deviated septum and conditioning issues. Also, has Jerry Gee signed with us yet? What about Doug Wrenn? He will pair nicely with El-Amin and Pryzbilla.

I thought Wrenn just had to retake the ACT, it may have even been flagged causing another retake, but he was studying hard and confident he’d get a qualifying score.wasn't a lot of that Doug Wrenn's mom's fault?
It also didn't help that Russ A. totally clocked Khalid El-Amin in a scrimmage scuffle.......

This guy! I remember Sid had me following his recruitment daily to see if we could get him as I recall it was between us, the badgers and maybe Illinois as I think he was from Chicago, but Sid is who I followed for recruiting back then as where else could you hear anything about recruiting. It must have been around 1995 as I worked for Target and we were building a Distribution Center in Oconomowoc WI and I was on a team who went there over the summer for a few weeks to install the back office infrastructure and I ended up at the hotel bar talking smack with some badger fans who thought they would sign him.... I'm too lazy now to look up where he ended up signing but I know it wasn't with the U.Can we solve a 30 year mystery? I still want to know why Sam’s minutes were limited? Could you over the history of the Gopher Hole such as ownership, who ran it, and so forth?Yep, I'm still around. Mainly a lurker these days, due to kids and life, but still a big fan. Back in the day of monochrome screens, DOS, and dial-up internet.
