I thought it might be a good idea to keep all these in one place.

Draftees
2. Ersery——-Texans
3. Walley——-Colts
7. Lindenberg——-Raiders

UDFA
Brosmer——-Vikings
Jackson——-Texans
Cooper——-Packers
Joyner——-Raiders
Striggow-—-Jaguars
Henderson——-Panthers
Robinson——-Dolphins

Who is the biggest surprise of the Gophers to go un-drafted?
Probably, Joyner for me. And, I'm surprised if that was his lot that he didn't end up
as a Viking udfa. Except, I'm going to say it, the Vikings do seem kind of stacked with candidates
on the D-line.
Max getting a $250,000 signing bonus from the Vikings would suggest he'll get an opportunity to stick all year.

I like most of these UFA signings. I would say Jackson, Cooper, and Striggow will have the toughest time making it on a 53-man roster.

And last year practice squad was getting 12,500 a week. Frankly I am sure this is a pay cut but a good year one year gig. I hope he goes to Med School.

Thanks for putting this list together.

Like 60's Guy, I was a bit surprised that Joyner wasn't drafted. Other than that, it fell about like what I expected.

Good luck to all of these guys.

I was a little surprised Jackson didn't get drafted, TBH. But Texans should be a good landing spot for him and money difference probably not that much than a late round pick.

I’ll be surprised if he doesn’t at least make the practice squad!!

That's almost a lock, I think. I would not be surprised if he made the roster. Might be tough with Diggs, Collins, and two draft picks though. If they keep only 5 then probably not, but for sure making someone's practice squad.

Well if Diggs is gone, makes it a little easier for Jackson.

I updated your list with the additional players pointed out in this thread.

Again, thanks for creating this list. It will be nice to follow their progress.

Really? He was pretty far down most boards pre draft and almost no one thought he’d be drafted

You got to take anything draft related about Gophees with a grain of salt on this site. A lot of passion for the team which is great but, the pro predictions for Gophs is much read comedy.

There are many good undrafted players across the college landscape. UDFA is a chance for our guys to taste their pro football dreams. Many will not make the team roster.

There are other football leagues they can try. Most of them will use their college degrees to get a decent job. Max Brosmer may delay going to medical school, but that is where he will end up.

I haven't done the digging - have we been sending better/more players to the league than Wisconsin over the last few years?

That's why I said " a little surprised ". I thought he had a fair chance of sneaking in the 7th rd. But being a UDFA isn't much different than being a 7th rd pick.

It's somewhat close, but I would say that the Gophers have sent more talent to the NFL in the last 5 drafts.

Since 2021:
Badgers
  • Total Players Selected: 15
  • Average Selection: 152
    • This could unfairly punish you for getting two guys drafted at the end of the 7th round. For example, a 1st round pick (20) and two 7th round picks (240, 241) would have a way higher average than just a 3rd round pick.
    • So I also just created a crude POINT system, you get 1 point for a 7th round pick and 7 points for a 1st round pick.
  • Total Points: 49
  • 1st & 2nd Round Selections: 2nd round (Joe Tippmann); 2nd round pick (Keeanu Benton)
Gophers
  • Total Players Selected: 13
  • Average Selection: 105
  • Total Points: 57 (same crude math as above)
  • 1st & Second Round Selections: 1st round (Rashad Bateman); 2nd round (Boye Mafe); 2nd round (JMS); 2nd round (Tyler Nubin); 2nd round (Aireontae Ersery).

I didn't think the pre-draft musings were that far out of line on the board this year. There's always someone who thinks the whole team is going to get drafted. I'd have to look back on the posts, but most seemed to think 3 or 4 Gophers would get drafted. The only surprises to me were Joyner not getting drafted and Walley going a round before I thought he would. I wasn't sold on Lindenberg's chances, but figured he'd end up getting picked in the late rounds.
