Gophers land a big man....... 6' 10" Nehemiah Turner

Maybe I'm looking at the wrong images, but it appears to me that he lost 30+ pounds (of bad weight) from the time he arrived on campus.

If that's correct, that may be why he didn't play early on and "came on at the end of the year."
Nice catch. I didn't notice that.

Very small sample size but I saw that he made 4/10 3 pointers in the last two months of the season once he was put in the starting lineup.

I also love to see he averaged 3.7 assists per 40 minutes. That would have ranked 3rd on our team last year. Also shows Niko may have a type, with Vaihola being a good passer.

For reference, the per 40 minute assist rates for our squad:
Odukale: 4.9
Patterson: 3.9
Mitchell 3.5
Asuma: 3.4
Garcia: 2.3
Fox: 2.1
Mitchell: 1.9
Rigsby: 1.5

And next year's squad:

Omot: 0, or 1.6 if I use UND
Crocker-Johnson: 1.5
Durkin: 2.8
Vaihola: 2.9
Reynolds: 4.2
Willis: 7.3

Maybe he will continue to lose weight and gain skills like Mo Walker. The problem is that you can't count on anybody staying more than a year.

Yes. A team could have a wonderful season with zero seniors and could also be awful the next season.
The new landscape of college bb.

The beauty of this kid, besides his great size, is that he is just going to be a sophomore and he showed a lot of improvement during his freshman year. Lots and lots of upside here.

Think he has room to keep on growing from where he left off in his freshman season under Niko. Seems like ability to pass, finish, and convert some FT for a big guy. Hopefully will work out well!

Yes. Gets his feet wet next year with Vaihola starting, then he can take over his Junior/Senior year.
