With the largesse being thrown around at players, the smaller roster size and seemingly headed towards Granville Waters/Jess Settles/Parker Fox eligibility for one and all, the answer is NO for me.

I will likely start playing more attention to the women’s hoops, which seems to be less effected by the above scenario, and more like the college buckets I grew up on.
 


In terms of time investment, can’t see that remaining the same. Becoming too much like pro sports.

I do know the exact minute when I’ll be 100% out. … when March Madness gets rid of automatic bids & the low-and mid-majors are no longer invited. No interest in a NCAA tourney that only has major conference participants.

I'm far less invested in college hoops than ever and that will probably never be earned back in my lifetime.

I'm always invested in the Minnesota Golden Gophers no matter how hard our Administration tries to emotionally embezzle those funds away.

I'm just really thankful I got to experience it at its peak. Great memories of watching tourney games at the Metrodome, filling out the bracket with my dad for his office pool, and crying my eyes out when my bracket went bust because a 15-seed Hampton beat Iowa State.

It's hard to imagine Cinderella will ever be relevant again when every Tom, Dick and Harry averaging 10 pts at a mid-major is trying to make a million bucks. I don't blame them, and the market is the market, but regardless, it's a new, watered-down era.

The magic that made CBB my favorite sport is dead. It's a tough pill to swallow that my kids won't get to experience that same joy.
 

I love college basketball. Idk if my interest will continue as it goes into the minor league territory. However if the Gophers are good it will be impossible for me to not watch and pay attention. Is seeing a men's major sport team become a champion to much to ask? Any of the 6 (Vikings, Wolves, Wild, Twins, Gopher Basketball, Football).

I have never seen my team in a Championship game even. It has to happen eventually right?

Granville Waiters played 4 years. He looked old, but wasn't.

For now, no, but if the SEC, Big Ten, etc., get their way, it might not be that far away (5 years?).

That said, I don't think they (Sankey, Petitti, Yormark, Phillips, Dan Gavitt, TV networks forking out all the dough, etc.) are that stupid/greedy (yet). Deep down they know taking the "Hickory Huskers" of the world out of the NCAA Tournament could be tournament suicide.
 

I have never really been all that invested in college basketball as a whole beyond what is happening with the Gophers.

I think all the BS going on right now with unrestricted free agency and pay for play is ridiculous but I will still follow the Gophers and root for the team to do well in spite of all the stupidity.
 



I'm very excited for what's been assembled, in terms of roster and coaching. I haven't been this excited since we actually won a tournament game. Will it translate? I think so, but we'll see. I'm in the process of moving so a financial commitment to anything else wouldn't be in my best interest. Down the road though, yes.

That's kind of what has happened to me, especially the last couple seasons. My interest has shifted more to a lower level of D1 hoops (St. Thomas/Summit League), even though technically they're part of this whole big, convoluted mess. Not the same talent and skill level, no, but a lot easier on my pocketbook, and I enjoy it every bit as much. Has really given me an appreciation of just how hard things are in those 1-bid leagues.
 

I'll support them with season tickets as long as they are successful (reasonably so at least) in this new landscape. I had seasons for close to 40 years and dropped them last year. Now I am getting them again and so are others. I was just told by the box office that they have already had 300 new seasons bought this year and plenty of buzz and calls. I'd guess season tickets will increase by 1500 this year.
 


I still love CBB, but it's definitely not the same as it used to be. I'd say peak CBB was the 90's and early 2000's. This year there were only 4 mid major schools that received a #10 seed or better (not including Gonzaga). As a point of reference in 1998 there were ELEVEN! And take a look at some of these schools.

4 seed New Mexico
5 seed Princeton
7 seed UMass
8 seeds Charlotte & Rhode Island
9 seeds Illinois-Chicago, Illinois State, George Washington & Murray State
10 seeds St. Louis & Detroit

There is basically a zero percent chance any of these schools ever reach this level, or schools of similar stature. The A10 had as many teams as the Big East, ACC, SEC and B1G. The WAC, yes the WAC, has 4 teams make it. CUSA and the Horizon each had 3. That's not coming back, and that part of it really sucks. There's basically no chance mid majors (not Gonzaga/St. Mary's) can achieve something better than a 9/10 seed ceiling. First all the good mid major players transfer up, second the P5 schools really have a monopoly on scheduling, and third, by the time these mid majors are comfortable playing as a team, the non conference portion of the schedule is over, and they have no opportunity for notable OOC wins.

People still need to show up buying meant little last year.

It started when conferences just started luring teams away from each other. I get that it has always happened to an extent but I will never accept Nebraska, Maryland, Rutgers, and certainly never any of the PAC 10 schools. Penn st is lucky I was 9 when they joined the big ten otherwise I wouldn't accept them either.

The initial breakup of the big East was disgraceful, the ACC is ridiculous, the SEC needs to be cut in half and I miss the PAC 10.

The unlimited free agency is just the cherry on top of what is becoming a bad product.

I have definitely accepted Nebraska. Especially because of the Quadrangle of hate.
 

My interest in college basketball is waning quite a bit. If my teams start becoming decent again, it'll help a bit. The whole unlimited transfers and NIL stuff needs to have some manner of regulation. In the current state, things are an absolute mess and I hate it.

Part of what I enjoyed in college basketball is watching players grow over four years. The lack of any roster stability is just no fun.

Winning solves most issues. I’m pretty sure we’d have people complaining because it’s a message board after all, but if we friggin’ won something of consequence every now and then it would be a heck of a lot more fun!
 

People, in general, hate change. That’s different than being disinterested though. I’m not disinterested and several posters hit the nail on the head when they admitted their interest is directly tied to the success of the team they root for. It’s human nature.
 


I already barely pay attention outside of the Gophers. That will only get worse. The Gophs will always matter though.
