Gophers partner with Independent Sports & Entertainment (ISE) to explore potential naming rights for Williams Arena.

We need cash to compete. Let's get some more (as long as they keep the Williams Arena name in there somehow). Like Williams Arena at The Pillsbury Center.

The Pillsbury (or whoever buys the rights) Center would contain both Williams Arena and Maturi Arena.

Bring back the hamburger joint "Red Barn", and have them throw down a few million for naming rights. (who remembers Red Barn?)
Haven't been there in a while but we still have one in Brainerd. It's as close to my White Castle fix that I can get. Crumbled beef, fried onions, dill pickles, mustard and steamed buns. Great pie, too!

I don't think they could afford to sponsor even a local softball team, though.

I wouldn't name my kid Shithead and reason that "we can just call him by a nickname, so 'minimal impact.'" It'd be different if it was a new arena, but we're talking about trashcanning tradition for money.
I had the opposite thing. My parents gave me a normal name but a lot of people call me Shithead anyway.

Taco Bell Barn and have them sell the concessions too. Round up to the nearest dollar for a donation to the NIL Collective.

Some of y'all are impossible to satisfy. There are innumerable posts throughout this board stating that Coyle is inept and the (comparative) lack of money in the athletic department is typically near the top of the list of reasons why. Here he is pursuing some of the lowest hanging fruit available to generate more revenue and people are bothered. This should have happened 20 years ago.
Where was mark 10 years ago then?

Maybe I am overthinking, again. Is there a valid reason why naming rights were not pursued earlier for Williams, or am I just holding onto my well-known gripe for the venue? Huntington has had paid for years. Surely, a relic like Williams can generate venerable cash from this relic. As long as the cash is not as creaky as the venue, I am really happy that it will generate revenue. A little late but very welcome.

Different restaurants.

A requirement of any naming rights should be that no company shit can be put on the actual playing court. No garbage like the ugly Cambria logo. You can put your logo on any out of bounds portion of the court

I guess if you're going to sell out, then SELL OUT!

Only getting $30M for the football stadium naming rights was shameful then and now.

100% this. I was thinking exact same thing a bit ago. It was an awful deal then and even worse now in today's world. Fortunately that contract is up in 2030 and the deal should be at least doubled.

That being said, the U has done a horrible job of marketing the venue as a place for outdoor concerts and other non-Gopher football events outside of a few sporadic events a year.

Go Gophers!!

If my parents were given the opportunity to name me Shithead and I'd get a million dollars, I'd do it.
Me too! Heck, friends yell that at corporate dinners in our direction already, Bob and we both turn around wondering which one of us they are talking to. We pause, look at each other and go it was probably meant for somebody else, with a shrug..

It's ridiculous how they tear up Target Field for concerts every summer while the Bank sits empty.

Wonder if Barnes & Nobles would sponsor and then sell the programs?
Reverse market it. If we take a program, we get a free Barnes and Noble membership, say for two months. Have to come back for more games to extend. That is a promotion.

We're talking about Williams Arena here...put some concerts in there: "Barn Dance This Saturday!!"

It’s “The Barn”. No one calls it Williams arena. This actually makes more sense than the 3M deal.

MN balances its athletic budget and this is a way to help keeping with doing that. Great time to do it with women’s and men’s momentum.
