We have another HUGE commit, Gavin Meier, tackle

“I don’t like talking bad about other schools, but I also have to keep in mind that this isn’t the same Wisconsin they used to be,” Meier said. “Like, this isn’t the Barry Alvarez Wisconsin. I don’t like throwing shade at anybody because Wisconsin is still a great program.

“But Minnesota, they’ve proven to be good. The past three out of four years, they’ve beaten Wisconsin. Wisconsin, one more losing season, and it’s kind of uncertain. I get Coach (Luke) Fickell is signed, but anything can happen.”

I was having a rough morning until I read that quote.

Love it! Janesville is a stones throw (appx 45 minutes) from Madison. And you drive THROUGH Madison to get to the Twin Cities.

Welcome, Gavin Meier! Looking forward to keeping the Axe in Minnesota for eternity.

PJ Fleck has shown that his program works for developing young men that make an impact in playing football (NFL players every year and winning) and developing leaders (look at PJ's coaching tree).

Iowa become Iowa because it gave kids on the fridge of greatness a program that could develop them - they become know for TE, OL and DL.

WI became WI because it showed kids that they were a hard nosed team that could develop OL, RB, DL and LB.

Minnesota is becoming a top level program by showing kids our program works and the great part while DB and Safety seem to shine a little brighter we are really developing NFL level player at every level. If PJ stays put and we get the coaches (financial resources) to support him, I really believe our best days are ahead of us.

Build him a statue

This was such a massive recruiting win for Fleck and the program.

I understand why there aren't more posts in this thread as we have to actually hold on to this commitment until Signing Day. Unfortunately, we lost a big Wisconsin DL commit and two Big OL commits last year. I want to credit the staff for a big win, but also don't want to keep in mind what the class looks like 8 months from now is what matters.

On the other hand, even if he doesn't honor his commitment to us in the long run I don't think we'll end up losing him to Wisconsin because he burned those bridges, pissed the fire out, and took a dump on the ashes with his comments about the state of their program lol
