Saint Francis University has announced that its athletic program will soon move from Division I to Division 3 competition.

According to the announcement, the university's Board of Trustees says the shift to D3 will begin at the start of the 2026-27 academic year, joining the Presidents' Athletic Conference.
More recently, SFU made history by earning its first NCAA basketball tournament bid in over three decades. Unfortunately, the Red Flash's Cinderella run was short lived, as they lost to Alabama State in the First Four play-in game.

Honestly this isn't that bad a thing. There are too many D1 schools now. It's about time some went back the other way.

I'm surprised more schools don't do like the U of Chicago back in the day, drop football and downsize their athletic departments.
