Barry Alvarez whines about Fickell and offers no solutions

He's more upset that they are not letting Fickell cheat like they let him.
Spot on. Barry knew how to do the old school persuasive tactics that John Robinson successfully applied at USC.

Like paying athletes under the table, adjusting grades so they can play or playing athletes who committed crimes or having and affair with a student covered up.

You have no proof of this. He had an administration that wanted to win, not some liberal do-gooder who was concerned with societal means.

Alvarez is an omnipresent shadow over the program he retired from, but refuses to quit. Fickell isn't one of his guys who played or coached for him or that he hired as AD; he's an outsider to the program Barry built, so he won't shut up about their lack of success. Completely unhelpful, but he doesn't care. He only wants to be known as the alpha dog.

I guess I'm classified as a liberal where I believe in protecting our waters and land etc. Anything wrong about protecting the earth, no racism, and helping people?

Never have I seen a GH poster that brings less to the table than you, which is an incredible achievement given some of the wastrel that has populated the boards over the 20+ years I've been around. Congrats on being the first poster that I move to the block list.

Depends on if your presupposition to achieve those ends is flawed. We have witnessed the creation of dystopian societies due to those three goals. The outcome was horrendous and failed to meet any of those noble goals.

Interesting, will this end up being like a Gary Andersen situation?

I think Badgers fans would kill for Fickell to go 9-4 and 10-3 back-to-back with a B1G championship game appearance. And let’s remember that Andersen wasn’t fired, he left of his own volition to take the Oregon State job. Fickell isn’t the train wreck that Don Morton was (yet), but he’s put up the worst two-year start to a UW career since Alvarez, who had to dig out of the smoldering rubble left behind by Morton.

Barry ran the football program for years as AD, long after he was no longer technically the HC.

Winning % by era
Alverez’s last 13 seasons as HC = .73
Alverez AD/ Bielema HC = .73
Alverez AD/ Andersen & Chryst HC= .74
Post Alverez = .54

It’s only been four seasons, but Alverez’s retirement really seems to have made the football program less productive. It has to be painful to see how something you spent three decades “building” throughout your career cannot be sustained at all just months after leaving.

B.A. came to town and turned Madison into a mini Nebraska fan money machine. MN wished into one hand and…….

Nasty political talk. Take it to the damn political board. Political garbage belongs over there. It wouldn’t hurt one bit if you apologized, for your error too! ;0)

Is it truly all Alvarez, or is it because Fickell came in and completely changed the system that made the Alvarez, Bielema, Andersen, and Chryst years so successful?

Bolded: didn't he use some excuse about too high of academic standards?

Well anyway, your point is well taken. Fair enough
