It's combine week...if he plays decent I think he'll go in the end of round one or top of round 2.
In which case, I'd think he would stay in the draft.

I watched him play most of his games last year. He seems to be able to shoot. He also can…….. well he can shoot. He may quite easily develop, but he currently cannot create his own shots, can’t get to the rim, and doesnt seem to have a lot of interest in defense. He also has a tendency to stand around a lot and wait for things to happen. But yes he can shoot, has some length, a pedigree, and it is possible the rest of the game will come to him. But if you were to toss him onto one of the rosters in the Wolves, Nuggets series, you still would not have seen him on the court.

He's 2-3 years away from making an NBA team full time. Does his college 3 point shot even translate at the NBA distance? I am certain it will at some point.

You are not seeing a lot of players on the court rotations are tight… NBA catch and shoot.. he has that and actually the shot or two dribble drive pull up shows promise… OKC would be a great spot…
 

Look at Aaron Wiggins college stats and how far he has come…
 

Because he was invited to the combine he basically has to decide if he wants to play professionally next year. If I'm not mistaken if he gets drafted he has to go pro, if he slides and is not picked in the second round he can always return to college. Either way I'm guessing he makes more money if he stays in college for a year.

You are mistaken. There is a deadline for opting out. Past that, you cannot come back.

Just saw on 247 he was #4 uncommitted. Oooh, he gone. And I feel he should come back to allow for his body to mature more.

He won’t lose much cash. MN is the one of his best development options. Mostly because wverything is known. He can pivot to details. Any other squad will slow his learning curve.

No matter what, He should focus on right opportunity, more than money. If his dream is actually playing in the NBA vs being rostered.
 

He is gone to the NBA. The "and in the transfer portal" is a technical move. Bronnie James did that too. Christie is headed to the NBA and not coming back to college ball.

Mmm, I’m gonna go ahead and disagree with you there. I understand the theory, but there are other staffs at other schools that have track records in developing NBA players.

I agree. He is not the typical "can't create his own shot" type of player. He is a pretty good shooter off the bounce, he could definitely spot up off a pnr.

He isn't going to be someone who does much work at the rim, but he isn't going to be someone you just plant in the corner and hope can knock down open shots.
 

He will be on a G league team for somebody probably as an undrafted free agent unless some college program gives him an offer he can’t refuse.

If he stays in the draft he is almost certainly G League bound next year....but he will get drafted. Seems like a late first early second round is becoming the consensus on him.

That's a really high bar for anyone to clear. Of the players on those rosters, here's the list of guys that received NBA minutes at 19 years old (Cam's age next season):

Anthony Edwards (full season)
Daishen Nix (24 games)
Aaron Gordon (47 games)
Jamal Murray (full season)

The only team that was competitive in that group is Murray's '16-'17 Nuggets, who still missed the playoffs. Generally speaking, if you are playing a 19 year old in the NBA, you are not doing so to win games that season. A 19 year old in a playoff rotation? I don't have Stathead for Basketball, but the list would be very short.
 

He's clearly impressing scouts. All legitimate mock drafts have him at the top of the second round. He's absolutely gone if he gets projected there. Shooters with length are prized in the NBA.
 

Honest question - if you're not a lottery pick, is it worth it to stay in the draft? I think that was the rule of thumb a few years ago, but it should seem even moreso with all the NIL $ at the college level. It's very possible that the NBA contracts are better now, though.

Everybody in the top 40 of the draft last year (except for one guy developing at Barcelona) signed a contract with an average salary of $1.9M and at least $3M guaranteed. Anyone should absolutely go to the draft if they're confident they'll be picked at the top of the second or higher.

Cam has struggled with the shooting drills at the combine, though, so I'm curious how that might impact his stock.
 





I'm assuming if he's not participating in the scrimmages, that he knows he's going to get drafted and he knows he's not coming back to college. A lot of players who are scrimmaging have better resumes than Cam (Baylor Schierman, Jamal Shead, etc).

Well ya he played and started most of the season. Basically did what he wanted... I wouldn't mark that down as coached properly but was allowed to do his thing
