Asuma is (optimistically) currently either the 4th or 5th best player on the roster, but there's 3 players at his position among those 5. They really, really need non-PGs.

They really, really, really need big bodies, and that is where Ben has his greatest recruiting, and coaching, shortfall. If we don't have 2 bigs that we are raving about, I don't see us going .500 in conference play.

I have not closely followed the Evans situation, but the last news item I saw said he’d left Kentucky To return home to CA with an undisclosed medical condition. He did not complete the season at Kentucky.

He played at Louisville and was recently cleared to play again, he is currently in the transfer portal. It would be a gamble to bring him in, but we've had worse use of the 13th scholarship in the past.

Rumor was that's what Louisville paid him to bail on us at the last moment so it seems like a fair transaction. Kind of like a restocking fee. 🙂

Exactly, Purcell got the final scholarship this season. I wouldn't have an issue giving it to Evans for the upcoming season. Hard to invest anymore in the guy at this point, should be interesting to see who gives him a chance and what he is able to make of it.

I guess low major, maybe a Big West team close to home. The health concerns are too great for most high majors to deal with. I can’t believe any team will spend money, but maybe his handlers are delusional enough to think he should get another payday.

Evans was NOT medically cleared to play at Louisville in Jan 2024. Is there more recent news? I'm skeptical. Basically, a first-year player played a handful of games, Louisville didn't want him...Now he's going to start for MN gophers.

Yes there was some news within the last month or so. The same time he entered the portal I believe.

A coach won't help with paying NIL. The whole NIL is whats causing 85% of this movement

Its a dead period until April 11th. So I think the only possible commits are Andrew Morgan. Unless someone wants to comit without visiting. Or I guess I don’t know if anyone else has already visited.

I posted about Evan’s being in the portal after I saw his name/profile on the portal list. In absolutely no way was I serious about ever, ever having him play as a Gopher. My guess is, as others have said, he will never play for a Power 5 team.
