#9 Gophers vs #8 Spartans Thursday at 11am

I don't know ... it's not like Michigan St isn't beatable. Then we were ahead of Purdue deep into the first half... I mean ... home town advantage...Purdue likes to choke. It's why we got Jack after all. We just need to have a couple games where we can't miss from 3 .... crazier has happened.

Indy Star is reporting differently. Bizarre.

Ohio State/Minnesota/Penn State tied at 9-11

1st Tie Breaker
Winning Percentage among the entire group (Rule explicitly states that tied proceed to the next tiebreaker but the others do not):
Gophers 3-1 (2 Penn State Wins plus OSU win), Ohio State 2-2 (split with both Gophers and Penn State), Penn State 1-3 (Lost both Gophers and split Ohio State).

By my calculations it should be
9 Seed: Minnesota
10 Seed: Ohio State
11 Seed: Penn State

Edited - I think it is correct now

Gophers win the tiebreaker with Penn State and Ohio State based on 3-1 record in the round robin between those three. 9 seed.
Yes, just weird that the Indy Star got it wrong. Basketball is kind of a big thing in that town.

The AI algorithm must have been programmed wrong for whatever wrote the article. 😉

Would be vintage Gopher athletic department to misread the tiebreakers and report the wrong match up.

I think we should be 9th & Michigan State 8th by the following:

9th - Gophers won the 3 way matchup of the 9-11 teams as follows (best record among the tied teams):

9) Gophers: 3-1 (lost only 1 to OSU)
10)Ohio State: 2-2 (1 and 1 with both teams)
11) Penn State: 1-3 (lost 1 time to OSU and lost twice to the Gophers)

So, by virtue of beating PSU twice we moved up a space

8th) three way 10-10 tie with Michigan State-Indiana-Iowa for 6, 7, 8.

Michigan State has played the other two teams only once each and has lost to both (0-2)

All the opponents in the Friday games are tough matchups. So why not bring on the team expected to win it all, Purdue.

Nebraska clobbered MN, a bad matchup. Illinois is high powered. Northwestern we just saw. Why Not take a respectable loss to the best and maybe just pull it off.

No matchups on Friday are good.

UPDATE TO POST: Would Gophers make the NIT with a win against MSU and respectable loss to Purdue?

Math 🧮

Per Cuda…Iowa gets all the good. Gophers get fucked!
