Stella Swenson in the Gopher Spotlight

Just going to highlight this:

GS: Is there anything that makes you nervous about starting your college career?
SS:
That's a good question. I'd say just that people can be very negative. I'm a confident person, I know what I can do and do not let anyone affect me. But people online just say whatever they want and the things that say can be hurtful. Comparisons freak me out too. I'm going to do my best and I'm not anyone but myself.

All Gopher athletes should be banned from reading any and all online commenting mediums.

It’s sheer insanity for them to seek self-affirmation from the sewer of the internet.

This should be painfully obvious.

But I also call upon head coaches to explicitly put out such bans for their teams.

^^ therefore, fans should be negative online.

This is our safe space to do so.

I for one will continue to be as negative as makes me feel good to do so.

A manifesto of inanity

Heaven forbid that one would choose not to malign athletes online. But you do you.

Just going to highlight this.

GS: Which teams are you most excited to play in college?
SS:
Wisconsin. Samantha didn't lose to them once in her four years of college (8-0). They're really good, so that will be tough to replicate. But the rivalry between the schools is so fun.

:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Have literally never seen any online community except women's college volleyball where a fake culture of "how dare you speak a single word of non-positivity about a player's performance, and if you do you're a terrible person who hates women!!!"

So fake. I will never comply with such fakery.

If anything, it is sexism to try to "shield" them from negativity just because they're women. How sexist of you to assume they aren't strong enough to take it!

If a player plays like trash, then negative commentary about that trashy play is warranted, and I will be providing it if I so desire.

"Single word." Way to create a strawman.

And maybe the problem is that we can be way too big of jerks to male athletes, too, not that it is somehow "sexist" to expect people to be decent human beings.

"Plays like trash" is such a perfect example.

Anyhow, just don't be surprised when YOU are called out for YOUR trashy behavior. Have a great day.

Athletes don’t read Gopherhole. As is correct.

It’s their fault if they do. Their coaches should ban them from reading it.

Entirely their fault. No fan should ever have to modulate their true feelings on here.

I won’t
