2023-2024 College Basketball Other Games Thread

Virginia scored 16 in the 1st half tonight against Virginia Tech. That included a stretch from about 9:30 left in the first half to 17:30 in the 2nd where they scored 2 points. That’s 2 points in a 12 minute stretch!

They looked terrible. Haven't played UNC or Duke yet. So it'll be interesting if they can manage to make a game against either.

If you’re a Mountain West fan, tonight is bliss. San Diego State visits Utah State. Aztecs have won 4 of the last 5
Aggies just 2 of their last 5
Winner takes over 1st place.
San Diego was the 14 point winner in their first matchup.
San Francisco @ Saint Mary’s
UConn @ Creighton
TCU @ Texas Tech
Baylor @ BYU
Big one in the MAC, Akron @ Toledo
What happened to Morehead State? They had won 12 of 13 and then hit a 2 game skid. Ohio Valley tightened up.

man, some potentially great games. . . we'll see if Creighton can tame UConn a bit in Omaha. The Big 12 matchups also good.

I saw them earlier in the year, can't remember what channel but almost unwatchable.

One more pump of the San Diego State @ Utah State game. It features a nice match up of big men. San Diego State has the 6'9" 240 lb Jaedon Ledee and Utah State features 6'8" 245 lb Great Osobor. (Think of Payne vs Payne)
Both lead their squads in scoring. Both lead their teams in rebounding. Both lead their teams in free throw attempts. Ledee has 206 and Osobor has 201. (That is a lot of attempts.)
First meeting was pretty even with Ledee scoring 16 with 9 rebounds and Osobor scoring 17 with 7 rebounds.

I like watching Ledee just to see how many 3 second violations go uncalled vs. him.

Big win for Iowa on the road at MSU. Both of those teams are so unpredictable.

TIL that Dave Smart is coaching for Texas Tech. Brilliant hire.

I'm so checked out on college hoops (gophers included) and just cancelled my march madness vegas trip...so even less reason to try to get into it. Sucks a ton to just not care.

Close game with Utah State and San Diego State. 61-58 with a little over 3 minutes left.
All over. Aggies win 68-63 and take over 1st place.

First men’s game I’ve watched in its entirety this season is TCU Texas Tech. Pretty fun game.

81% and still in your head.

You didn’t answer the question. Did you call the therapist?
We'll all be in therapy if we take what the computers say as the truth.

The NCAA wants us pouring over the computers every day...and watching all the games of teams we shouldn't care about.

I won't play their game though. I won't let a computer do my thinking for me.

South Florida Bulls with 11 straight wins and 17 of their last 18 in the AAC, but still only 1 game ahead of Charlotte in the conference race. And have to play the 49'ers on the road March 2nd.
Regardless what happens, great job by Abdur-Rahim in his first year there after a magnificient turnaround at Kennesaw State.

Saint Mary's with the longest current winning streak with 14
Randy Bennett has been at the helm for the Gaels 23 years!

Mississippi Valley State with the longest current losing streak for this season with 26 (28 if you count last year also)
15 seasons as a head coach for George Ivory and ony 2 have been winning years.
5-53 since taking over the Delta Devils.

Last night Creighton beats UConn by 19. As we know, Wayzata h.s. star Jackson McAndrews headed there next year. Looks like he’s joining a program on the upswing.

Creighton has been good for the majority of past couple decades.
True, not suggesting they were not good in the past. I have followed college basketball for a long time. This was one of the greatest wins in their program history and this year’s team is one of their best. All I am saying is that they are on the way back up to the top tier.

One hell of a finish coming in the Illinois/PSU game.

Edit: Penn State scores the last eight points of the game in less than 40 seconds to win by one 90-89. First game after Clary is dismissed. And this just three days after OSU's huge upset over Purdue.....in their first game since firing Holtmann. That's some resiliency.

Penn State comes back through trapping and forcing turnovers, a couple timely 3’s and Illinois missing free throws to beat Illinois by sinking 3 free throws with 4 seconds to go to take a 1 point lead. I think Penn State trailed by 10 with maybe a minute and a half left.
