After 2 different knee operations, looks to me as though Parker Fox has regained his confidence, and is showing the young players on this team what it takes to win games. 4 blocks and super hustle plays with no regard to his personal safety is so impressive. He needs to play at least 15-20 minutes each game.
 


Fox looks like he is finally getting comfortable out there again. There is zero doubt he would have really helped this time out the past 2 seasons.

Was excited to see what he could do when he transferred here. Shame we lost out on 2 years of Parker Fox.

He’s our Miles Tarver - more athletic version w/better facial hair.
 




Seeing the way he's playing these past couple of weeks makes me wonder if he was hesitant earlier in the year. Two season ending injuries in a row could do that to a person's psyche. Just looks like he's playing with a more reckless abandon than early in the season and it's making him a menace for opposing teams.....specifically on the defensive end.

He had 2 years worth of rust to knock off. But it does feel like he is settling into his role on this team and earning more and more playing time but making an impact when he is on the court. You need guys like Fox who don't need to have the ball in their hand to impact the game.

His history seems pretty straight forward. He played 3 FULL seasons prior to arriving on campus. We knew when he showed up that we would have him on the court for one season. This is that season. I can't see a reason to give him one more. Would I love it? Of course. Don't see it happening.

Nope. 2020-2021 didn’t count towards eligibility. That was the Covid year. He can absolutely get a waiver for another season.

I agree with your logic, I’m just saying it doesn’t seem as cut and dry as it used to be.

It’s already his 7th year of college basketball.
17-18- RS
18-19- FR
19-20- SO
20-21- Free Year
21-22- injured
22-23- Injured
23-24-

So he was already awarded an extra season, and five years ago I woukd have agreed with you, but there are a number of players getting extra years and those players have the exact profiles of Fox (COVID year + missing consecutive years to I juries after they already RS).
 



But two players on the same team, at the same time? That's a rarity, to be sure. Fox and Ihnen, who each have one year of eligibility remaining after this season, will be forever joined at the hip, er, knee.

When Parker Fox showed up we knew we would have him for TWO seasons. This from Gopher Hole at the time but it was widely reported that way.

Newly appointed Gophers head coach Ben Johnson continues to build his first roster; this time adding a commitment from Division two All-American Parker Fox. The Mahtomedi, Minn. native took to Twitter to announce his intentions to come home in a heart-warming video. The 6-foot-7-inch forward will have two years of eligibility remaining.

IMO Parker Fox has been aggressive, tough, fearless since the first time he stepped on the court this year. He has been what this team has needed but he was finally given the opportunity with Payne out. I think the rust has been off and he is finally being valued, hopefully. Knock on wood.
 


Fox is so good at attacking the basket that I can't help but believe he's got three or four buckets in him on high screen pick and roles if they would ever get the ball to him. I guarantee it would change the way teams defend the Gophers after a couple of buckets opening up looks on the perimeter.

Yeah, there were a number of posters here who totally wrote him and Ihnen off after the injuries. Has been great to see them both playing and carving out roles on this team.

Fox has been really impressive recently. I won't be surprised to see his role increase as the season goes on. He brings a different energy level to the floor when he is out there.

Good points. Based on the above, I still have hop for Ihnen to improve and become a steady contributor. Besides his injuries, he’s played a lot less hoops than Fox.

I really Fox can have a great pro career overseas; he seems like the type of dude who would enjoy exploring different cultures.
 

I'll fully admit that early in the season, I was pretty down on Fox and did not see him being a factor in B10 play. I'm happy to admit he is proving me more wrong by the day and he has been a great spark off the bench lately.

You might have included me in the write off category. Coming back from two season ending injuries is not something anyone should assume and I didn’t as a lot of others didn’t either. I think not getting your hopes up and assuming too much are different than writing someone off.

Although I had my doubts about how effective he could be post injury, he still deserves a lot of credit for hanging in, doing the rehab and becoming a contributor.
 


Dude was off the charts with energy and play. We inserted him in the second half down 9 and his energy and movement helped create a 10-0 run. The guys is really hitting stride.

With medical issues, any chance he can petition for another year?

He played 3 years at Northern but one was COVID year.
Played 1 year and sat 2 with injuries. Not sure if he could get another year.

He does, if he wants.
 

He absolutely has one more year of eligibility. Next year he will be a graduate level student. He is suddenly making a difference and his toughness is spreading throughout the team.
