***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA AT PURDUE BIG TEN OPENER IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

I think Battle be afflicted with Gabe Kalscheur syndrome.

Not yet !!
Let's wait, till teams scout him and game plan for him, like they now do Battle.
He also must learn to shoot a 15 footer.
Curious on payne, has he been explicitly told no jump shots? They are giving him so much room from 15-20 ft out, just wanna see him keep the defense honest once.

Samuels at least looks like he belongs. He hasn't in the games before and also hasn't played many minutes.
It's our offense. We don't have enough talent or shooting to play without sets or an offense.
Very few shots that are what most would call good looks or selection.
Freshmen can be really good!

Few things. Purdue is good, yikes they are talented, deep and well coached. This team would be the blueprint for what people on here call a building team. Big man who took 4 years and now is a true star. RFr who put on weight and can contribute. Everyone knows their roles. It's really a credit to that staff.

Next, listen you can say ben needs time, has freshman etc. His offense is one of the most pathetic things I have ever seen. If you can watch a gophers game and not think Ben has 0 idea how to coach offense I don't know what to tell you. It is utterly embarrassing. We aren't making shots...because we only take awful shots.

Henley, uff he's got miles and miles to go. I can see positive things from the other 3 freshman, Henley just looks like he has never played an organized game of basketball in his life.
Disagree on Henley. I see positive things from him as well. Right now he is very good in shooting off the dribble on a pull up. He has the quickness to get by people and then stop on a dime and rise up for a nice shot. Where he has struggled is with catch and shoot. He doesn't look as smooth in those instances.
Defensively he really aggressive and will get better on that end with more work.
Agree on the other 3 FR showing some improvement.
The offense has moments of good ball movement and getting a good to great shot. One example would be the play right before the half in which Battle got a great look and made it. The problem on the offensive end is they don't move the ball enough on every possession so it looks bad. That and we are having a horrendous night from outside the arc.

He may be a guy who has been told: There is a reason you are open....you can't shoot. Please don't. I don't know that...like you say he doesn't shoot.

It’s strange. He has space. Hard to believe he is that incapable.

The horrendous shooting night from three seems to be the norm

Could be worse. I could be out of cookies.......checks in kitchen. Dammit, I'm out of cookies. Might have to make a Kwik Trip run after the game.

Paynes court length run to the bucket made the first half worthwhile. We need a ton more from Battle and Garcia.

What does carrington do while on the court besides stand around the arc waiting to jack an end of shot clock deep three (for which he shoots like 32%)?

How the heck did he win Mr. Basketball.

Nebraska up 8 on Creighton with 3 minutes left. The battle for 13th place might be tougher than we thought.

I know he's been sick. But Garcia doing nothing really kills any chance we have to be competitive.
