Minnesota football traditions

Singing Hail Minn with the band after the post game show. Then walking out as the tubas play.

And, Goldy vs squirrel tho I don’t know if that’s a thing yet. But it should be.

I like the “Do the Gopher”, rouser, first down, the heart beat before the game!
It's an obvious choice but it's a classic - the rouser.

Also wanted to mention how much better the pregame lead-up has gotten in the last 5 years. Student section has really stepped up with that too.

I am typically tailgating too late to get to the stadium for the band pregame but I think it is highly underrated. Multiple school songs including one written by John Phillip Sousa, rotating the “M”, etc. All very well done and expertly designed.

I also like the way “ski u Mah” has worked its way in organically. Remember when they tried to force feed it with flags being waved to have each part yelled from the three sides of the stadium? That didn’t work. Now it has found its way in naturally when Kernkraft is played in the stadium.

Yes re ski u Kernkraft. Double fun when they play it in Iowa and Gopher Fans get to insert it during the song.

Production values at the games really changed around the start of the PJ / Coyle era.

It used to be SOOOO sleepy.

Purple Lamborghini gets me excited. The walkout with the student section swaying is great.

For older traditions the Battle Hymn of the Republic, if I'm there for it, has me pumped up.

We taught my son (2) to do the 4th down fist up and yell first down at the Western Illinois game. Now we get lots of first down calls randomly. Its great.

One of the best band traditions around. I’m not a band guy but we have some good stuff.

^ This is one that I find special.... (not the squirrel).

Being an ex-band member, I have to go with the cascade sequence during the expanding block M and the "Are You Ready!?" during pregame.

For those that aren't sure what I'm referencing, watch 7:45-9:20 of this pre-game video:

I love that we've kept the tunnel walkout and kickoff music the same for years now. Small touch, but building even small traditions like these improves the gameday atmosphere.
Marilyn Manson song...

I agree completely. I wish the stadium was full for that every week. When I am able to catch it live, I always make sure my guests to the game are aware of it.
