All Things 2021-2022 Minnesota Timberwolves In-Season Thread

In the long run, it's the best thing to happen.

They are physically overpowered in crunch time.

DLO is hot garbage. I believe he is done in Minnesota. McLaughlin is nice, but he's a midget on the defensive end. They were going at him late.

Pat Bev needs to come off the bench.

We have nothing inside next to towns.

Our perimeter defense is soft and weak because we are little.

The problem is can they fix any of this. Are we going to be stuck with what we have.

We lose because we get physically mauled. We are too little.
They owe DLo $31million next year who the hell gonna take that contract. I suppose you could dump it with a first round pick again like Wiggins.

Dump DLO for a big man, let Mclaughlin start, and sign a quality backup PG.

Mclaughlin is better than DLO.
With McLaughlin starting and Beverly next to him, we get killed on the perimeter. That's way too small.

We have to get bigger and more physical on the perimeter.

Beasley's game doesn't translate to the playoffs either. Aren't we paying him something like 17 million a year?

McLaughlin was good tonight but he's not a starting PG in the NBA. I've defended DLo but he was horrific tonight.

The Wolves are never going to win with KAT or DLo. Trade them both and build around Ant.

I think that is correct. Edwards has champion written on him if you can add the right pieces...soon.
McDaniels appears to be a future star. Probably need to work with Towns and fix him a bit and trade DLo. I don't love watching Towns play but he might be hard to move for equal potential value.

I don't care about equal value. Towns is an elite talent, but he has the brain of an angsty teenager. He's not capable of leading a winning team.

For a big man he's now in the backside of his career. It's time to get what you can and move on.

I didn’t understand why the twolves went away from the pick to get the switch making Morant guard Ant. That works well in the 1st half to the tune of 20 points on 7-11 shooting. 2nd half ANT was 3-13 for 10 points. Plus it let Ja take defense off not having to guard ANT.

Towns is a finished product at this point. He's probably a better fit on a team where he's not considered the face of the franchise and the 2nd or 3rd option

Yes I am on the trade machine.

How about DLO for Ben Simmons? Ben has 3 years left on his deal and DLO has 1. Maybe Nets are tired of his shit.

Not many good big men in the league. I think you could get some good assets for KAT

Memphis overcomes double digit deficits to win in 3 games in the series. Apparently, no other team has every done this in an entire playoff run! Very frustrating.

I have argued that the Wolves aren't stupid but, as someone above posted, they certainly are undisciplined. I think players and coaches are equally to blame in that area.

I see this as a major area to focus on this off season if they are to be more competitive next year. This and the cliches of rebounding and defense. Need to work on these skill sets and reconfigure the roster to bring some new pieces in with these traits.

The Wolves blew three double digit 4th quarter leads in the series. No one else has ever blown 2. Minnesota sports.

Memphis is really, really good. They are going to blow through Golden State. Draymond peaked about five years ago. He'll be on the trade market after this series.

Wolves went from 23-49 last season to 46-36 this season. Made the playoffs for the 1st time since '18 and 2nd time since '04. Brought many fans back to Target Center and online. The former to glory in the run. The later? More to whine about it but that's what we do.

It should feel batter, but right now it doesn't.

Losing the 10 point lead in the 4th Quarter last night? Nothing special. Memphis hit two back-to-back 3s and it was a game again. Losing those two 20+ leads in Game 3? At Home? That was awful. Not gonna say was a "killer" because turns out it wasn't. Neither was the other 20pt loss. The team not collapsing was just amazing.

You know why they set that "double-digit" loss record? Because they can't shoot, not because they are so awful on defense. They got cold, not stupid. If they actually had a couple of guys who could shoot no record would have been set.

They lost the series to Memphis. A team that had the 2nd best record in the NBA. A team that the Wolves split the season series with. They play Golden State Sunday. Another team that the Wolves split the season with.

Still feels awful though. Looking back it won't. Will feel even better if the Wolves can get a dependable rebounder, who can hit a put back and at least a couple of guys who can shoot!

Ah, Go Wild!?!

But, apparently, selecting a better shot to take will help you make them more often. ;)

Good point. Good shooters can't wait to shoot. Bad shooters? Too often with these guys it's not always about moving the ball as it is fear to take the shot.

Watching them turndown shot after shot, waiting for who knows what, then firing-up a desperate shot near the buzzer has been frustrating all year long. Not being rewarded with a foul call just makes everything worse.

They desperately need good shooters.
