2022 Transfer Portal Discussion

boy, spending time on this page just cheers me up with all the positivity.
They need to activate the upvote and downvote system on here. 3-4 negative posters have way too loud of a voice on here. It's sad as other aspects up their lives are most likely pretty pessimistic as well. Why watch the team if you're so negative towards it? Give Ben a chance, put your pride and ego aside for once and see what develops over the summer with landing guys from the portal

Thompson and Fox would never start together, and Thompson will not play ahead of Payne and Fox will not play ahead of Ihnen. Fox will be good for minutes playing defense and rebounding, but he can’t shoot at all.
Your pretty sure of allot of things ,I disagree with, but if your right, your name must be coach Ben.

I've got them all on ignore and from my vantage you guys are all arguing with a wall
Exactly. If everyone would just ignore them, the board wouldn't be overtaken by their idiocy. It's not hard to tell who is worthy of ignoring. You can usually tell after about 10 posts.

Per Shooter:

It still looks like the Gophers could end up with 6-foot-11 Dawson Garcia, an incoming junior at North Carolina, if the former Prior Lake star enters the NCAA transfer portal to be closer to family.

Meanwhile, the Gophers are closing in on an impact point guard.

Go Gophers!!

+1000 this forum is way more enjoyable with the clowns on ignore.
You got it. Lion King (?) recently made their way to their way to the ignore list. I'm less patient than I used to be.

Sam Goodwin, from Wofford to Oklahoma. Strange one.
Home state, I guess.

Not so strange, In addition to the home state, he also had very good efficiency numbers at Wofford. He may not have played starter minutes through the season, but he played well in his minutes. I know that's a bit of a foreign concept to those of us who are Gopher basketball fans: someone who comes off the bench and actually plays really well.

Saw him a few times this past year. Undersized PF... but surprisingly quick feet and can really score the ball. I would take him in a heartbeat, but I bet some of the big boys will be after him.

Yes, he's sort of a Charles Barkley type. I also read that he declared for the draft so whoever offers him is going to have to wait for an answer. Even if we could get him (which I doubt) we don't have the kind of program that can afford to wait eight or nine weeks for a decision (Ben got burned last summer doing that). Finally, you'll be very unlikely to recruit someone like him without a clear intention of making him a starter. I agree with other posters' opinions that we are better off recruiting a big man with potential that can fit in well with a front court committee system.

In case you were wondering, that's California University of Pennsylvania located in California, PA. PA also has an Indiana University of Pennsylvania located in Indiana, PA.
good point, only reason I know the California bit is because of UMD playing (and winning) in the Division 2 football national playoffs/championships in the past and I remember seeing them in the playoffs too, seems odd. I had no ideas about Indiana though:LOL:

IUPUI - Indiana University - Purdue University Indianapolis

I bet they have a great fight song.

I get leaving St Peters, but why Bryant? They won their league to go in as a 16 seed and got bounced. Moving to a new conference. They lost to Houston by 67 points in December. They were DII a couple years ago.
The article said he had other mid major offers. I'm surprised, Saint Peters ran plays for him and he knocked down shots. He obviously performs in prime time with the bright lights shining.
Ben likes shooters...I don't know who we get but I hope one of them is a better shooter than Edert.
Purdue always has a guy like this.
I'm surprised Bryant is the destination and it took a week.
Good background info on going to high school in New Jersey ... what kind of guy he is etc

Did we offer this guy? Oh, and hitler.

OK it's time. Let's Go Ben! Time to get a commitment in the next 24 hours!

Weird profile. Began his freshman year as a starter, with a 21 point 4 rebound 4 steal 3/6 3PT game against Howard. Bounced in an out of the starting lineup, scoring double digits 20 times that year.

Then as a sophomore, never started and saw the floor less. Shooting % went from 45% to 41%. Finished the year with two scoreless games and only hit double figures 7 times.

Weird indeed. There has to be something more here to explain why we would be interested. He did average over 11 per game as a frosh. Perhaps he had a nagging injury this year that slowed him..?
