College Basketball 2021-2022 Thread

Boise, CSU, Wyoming, and now San Diego St all bunched up at the top of the MWC.

Wyoming cooled a lot at the end while SDSU went the other way. Will be an interesting conf tourny.

Now that Craig Smith is out and Utah St is rebuilding, rooting for Niko and Roddy!
Wyoming really only had one bad loss, and that was at New Mexico. UNLV has improved, so not sure that loss hurt Wyoming. All other losses were vs. similarly tough teams. I agree San Diego State has surged. Their defense is super strong.

MWC is just a really strong league now, and next year will probably be better as Kruger is recruiting well at UNLV. Wyoming will need to replace Maldonado.

He can come back, if he desires to.

edit: I just read it a few days ago and am looking to find where I read it.

What's next for you?

Obviously I'm going to continue to play basketball, whether it's here or overseas [Maldonado was awarded a medical redshirt for his truncated 2018-19 season and will be eligible to return to Wyoming for a sixth year in 2022-23]. Like I tell everybody, I think it only helps us to continue to do good so right now I'm focused on living in the moment.

Drake vs Loyola (-5 pt favorites) today (CBS, 1pm) for the MVC championship is arguably the focal point of the college basketball world today! Loyola is still a bubble team, so a close loss to Drake (win or NIT/CBI/CIT) might lead the MVC to be a potential 2-bid conference. Drake has actually beaten Loyola twice this season already which may give us some hope. The Bulldogs did lose DJ Wilkins, the team’s top 3pt shooter and best perimeter defender, to a season-ending ACL injury recently. This becomes even more important as the Bulldogs have a short bench and come off the late game yesterday going to Overtime vs Missouri State. Tired legs may make this even tougher than usual, but here’s hoping for some more March Madness. Let’s go Drake!

I suppose the rest of the MVC is rooting against the departing Loyola? ;)

We need all the fans we can get! Tucker Devries (son of head coach Darian Devries) is a bonafide star, so plenty of reasons to root for the Bulldogs. (Edit) College basketball might be the last thing on folks mind in Des Moines right now though with reports of “Tornado kills 7, including 2 children, near Des Moines, Iowa, officials say”. Thoughts and prayers out to any involved.

I’m not certain, but I believe that sentiment may be reserved for shooting victims.

Rutgers barely survives Penn State.

That woulda been a debacle

Nebraska jumps out to a 10-3 lead on Wisconsin to open the game. Crazy how they've come on here down the stretch. Glad that regardless of what happens.....the Gophers won't have to play them in the opening round of the BTT.

Loyola/Drake entertaining early on. Lots of energy and defensive effort.

Guy on Ohio State's bench wearing Zubaz. That's the important take away from that game.

Talk about petty. I thought K runs a program that does everything the right way.

Brutal series of calls against the Huskers down the stretch of the first half in Madison.

I've been surprised with how bad Nebraska has been this year. They have talent, but have underachieved.

There is actually some shady shit with these refs in Madison right now...

Embarrassing display by the refs in the Badger game. Nebraska just got t’d up for looking at the ref with a mean look. Badgers in the bonus with. 15 minutes left in the 2nd half. Unreal.

There should be a criminal investigation into this game

Refs have got to be betting on games or some shit

That flagrant-2 was a good call, though, I have to say.

Drake is torepdeo'ing their own season.

Just cant win if you both cant make jump shots or free throws.

The big guy Brodie is a complete liability. God hes bad.

I have a nice ticket on Illinois to win the big 10, really sweating this dang Nebraska Wisconsin game! Come on Nebrasketball!!

Johnny Davis left game with knee injury. Nebraska up 3 with 37 seconds left

Wisconsin misses a wide open layup, gives up an offensive rebound, then stupidly fouls as shot clock as winding down. Bizarre sequence.

Nebraska football lost the Gophers a chance to win the West this year with their collapse against Iowa. Hopefully they'll hold on here.

Nebrasketball tried really hard to blow that by having a 65% free throw shooter hold the ball for the one and one. Silly.
